Immerse yourself in the historical tapestry of England on this fabulous midweek break, with captivating visits to three remarkable destinations. Explore the medieval charm of York, wander through the historic streets of Lincoln, and discover the cultural treasures of Beverley.

Yorkshire is home to some of the most interesting, historic cities and beautiful scenery in the country. No other city offers the charm and beauty of the fabulous cathedral city of York where 2,000 years of history is combined with bustling shopping streets and numerous award-winning attractions. Enjoy its many sights and sounds formed by its rich history and heritage from the Vikings to Romans. You'll also enjoy a visit to the pretty gothic market town of Beverley along with some time in Hull itself. Yorkshire’s only waterfront city. We will also head down to the city of Lincoln, which has long attracted visitors for its ancient history, quaint streets and great shopping and eating.

Itinerary

Day 1

Join your comfortable coach at your convenient pick up point this morning before we head for Yorkshire and your manor house hotel, the 4* Mercure Grange Park. Take some time to settle in or maybe have a stroll around the grounds or enjoy a drink at the bar before our first nights dinner.

Day 2-4

Enjoy hearty breakfasts each morning and then either relax in the hotel's extensive grounds or use the leisure facilities (extra charges may apply). Whatever you do, though, make sure you join us for some or all of our INCLUDED excursions.

We head down to beautiful Lincoln where you will have some time to explore the historic streets, majestic cathedral and local bars and eateries that this popular city offers and draws in so many visitors every year. Spend time in the medieval market town of Beverley famous for its 13th century minster. Tucked away down narrow streets are antique shops and craft arcades, and on every other corner is a pub full of history and atmosphere. We also head in to Hull itself and its compact historic quarter. Wander through the cobbled streets and alleyways, flush with Georgian buildings and rich in reminders of Hull’s fascinating past. Last but not least, discover the medieval city of York, where ancient walls and cobblestone streets whisper tales of centuries past. Discover the iconic York Minster, wander through the Shambles, and absorb the atmosphere of a city that seamlessly blends history with modern vibrancy.

Return to your hotel each evening for your included dinner and time to relax and swap stories.

Day 5

After our final breakfast today, it is time to say farewell to Yorkshire as we board our coach for the last time. Sit back and relax as we head for home, and reflect on this warm and friendly county and the history, fun and wonderful experiences you have enjoyed.

Lincoln

During the Roman era Lincoln was known as 'Lindum Colonia' developed from an Iron Age Settlement on the River Witham. The two most notable attractions are the spectacular 11th century Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle at the heart of the city's cultural Cathedral Quarter. The city has two universities, the University of Lincoln and Bishop Grosseteste, and is full of a diverse range of shopping and retail options from high street favourites to unique independents and boutiques. Beverley

Beverley is a thriving traditional market town and its Market Cross still stands proudly in the centre of its bustling marketplace. Visitors are attracted to this well-loved town by a variety of options - you can enjoy boutique shopping, a quiet drink in an historic pub and a meal in an increasing number of café-bars and restaurants. The Flemingate Shopping Centre, which is also packed with leisure options, has dramatically transformed an area in the town once known for its tannery. You can follow your exploration of the wide-open pastures of Beverley Westwood with a visit to the magnificent 13th-century Beverley Minster or a stroll along the Beck.

York

Welcome to York! Renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets and wealth of visitor attractions, York is a flourishing city. This historic and compact walled city can be explored easily on foot. With its magnificent history and culture, there are thirty world-class museums you can explore. Perhaps visit the Jorvik Viking Centre, one of York’s most popular attractions delving into the past and the sights and sounds of Viking York. Don't miss ‘The Shambles’, one of the best-preserved medieval streets in the world, whilst the magnificent, iconic York Minster is well worth a visit along with the state-of-the-art Undercroft Museum, located in chambers underneath the cathedral. There’s also the National Railway Museum, showcasing over 300 years of railway history.
