Itinerary
Day 1
Local departure by coach, then to our hotel in northern France, where we stay for four nights.
Day 2 - Ardennes Region
We start today with a journey through to the Ardennes Region to Montcornet where Charles de Gaulle fought in May 1940. We then visit the newly-opened Ardennes War Museum at Novion-Porcien, where we find a fantastic collection of vehicles and weaponry from both the World Wars.After lunch in Sedan, we take a look at where the German forces crossed the Meuse and the massive tank battle that took place around Stonne in May 1940, with a chance to see an original Char B Tank.

Day 3 - Arras
Today we look at the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and its role in the fighting around Arras and in northern France. We take a look at the ground where British tanks fought Rommel’s Panzers, visit the graves of those who lost their lives there and see the Durham Light Infantry and Matilda Tank Memorial in Beaurains.After lunch in Arras, we move on to learn about the fight for Mont St. Eloi in 1940 and then travel over to look at the Gort Line defences and bunkers built by the BEF.

Day 4 - Dunkirk
As the Allied front in France collapsed, British and French troops were forced to retreat to the coast with their backs to the Channel. In the morning, we look at the defence of the Canal Lines and after lunch in Dunkirk we see the Dunkirk War Museum, the War Cemetery and evacuation beaches.
