Waterford

INCLUDED Visitor Destination
Waterford has become the capital of Ireland’s sunny South East. It is Ireland’s oldest city, established by the Vikings in the 9th Century, and you can discover the area’s rich history through a series of fascinating attractions. You can visit the famous House of Waterford Crystal, Waterford’s arguably most famous export. See the Crystal Cutters at work and wander around the huge gift shop afterwards and perhaps purchase yourself a memory! Other highlights include Waterford Treasures’ three museums in the Viking Triangle, the spectacular Mount Congreve Gardens and the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway.

Mount Congreve House & Gardens

Nestled near Waterford, Mount Congreve House and Gardens offers a glimpse into Ireland's botanical beauty and architectural heritage. The estate, once home to Ambrose Congreve, boasts stunning Georgian architecture set amidst 70 acres of meticulously landscaped gardens. Wander through terraces adorned with rare plants and vibrant blooms, reflecting Congreve's passion for horticulture. Explore woodland walks, serene lakes, and meandering paths that lead to hidden gems like the Chinese pagoda and the walled garden's Victorian glasshouse.

Whether strolling along the Rhododendron Walk or relaxing by the reflecting pools, Mount Congreve invites visitors to immerse themselves in a serene blend of natural splendor and historical charm, making it a must-visit destination for garden enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

Visiting on our spring trip? Then in addition to everything else you'll enjoy the soft white pinks of the one-kilometer mature Magnolia Tree walkway to the deep pink-reds of the Camellias and Rhododendrons, perfectly in bloom.

If you're travelling on our autumn holiday, then be prepared for the deep bronze tones of the Maple Lawn to the fallen Beech Tree nuts, gathered by Ireland's native and rare red squirrel.

Kilkenny

The city of Kilkenny is home to one of the most recognisable landmarks in Ireland: the 12th-century Kilkenny Castle. Go back in time and explore Ireland’s Medieval Mile, a discovery trail running through Kilkenny city. One of Ireland’s most cosmopolitan cities, Kilkenny is a true gem in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East. Enjoy traditional Irish food drink and entertainment or shop 'til you drop at independent boutiques and local shopping centres and browse creations from Kilkenny’s prominent local arts, craft and design scene. You’re going to love it…

Suir Valley Railway

Embark on a scenic journey through Ireland's lush countryside aboard the Suir Valley Railway. As you board the vintage carriages, anticipation builds for a nostalgic trip back in time. Traverse the picturesque Suir Valley, where rolling green hills and meandering rivers paint a serene backdrop. Listen to the gentle clickety-clack of the tracks as the train chugs along, offering panoramic views of historic landmarks and tranquil villages.
