12 Day Itinerary - 2024
Day 1
Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to northern France for an overnight stay.
Day 2
Continue to Italy where we will stay overnight in the Cremona region.

Day 3
Arrive in Umbria today at our 4-star hotel, Abbazia Collemedio Resort & Restaurant, where we will stay for seven nights on a half-board basis. The hotel nestles amongst rolling hills, not far from Perugia.

Day 4 - Perugia
Join our included excursion today to Umbria’s largest city, Perugia, a lovely medieval city rich in history and art. The historical centre reveals traces of both Etruscan and Roman civilisations; there is time to explore the well-preserved walls, cathedrals, piazzas or wander the labyrinthine alleyways.
En route back to our hotel, we stop in Deruta, famous for its beautifully colourful ceramics.

Day 5 - Free Time
A day at leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities on offer at the hotel.

Day 6 - Umbrian Hilltop Towns & Wine Tasting
Today we visit some of Umbria’s most beguiling hilltop towns and villages on our full-day included excursion.
The honey-hued buildings of pretty Spello seemingly cling to the side of Monte Subasio, whilst Montefalco is known as the 'balcony of Umbria' for its elevated position and spectacular vistas.
We visit Spoleto which has a compact centre filled with a wealth of history; the Ponte delle Torri bridge and hilltop fortress add to the town’s attractive appearance.
The day concludes with a visit to a wine producer with a tasting of local wines.Meals - Breakfast, Dinner
Day 7 - Siena and San Gimignano
Today's included excursion takes us to the neighbouring region of Tuscany with a visit to the delightful towns of Siena and San Gimignano.
A maze of red-brick buildings, Siena is a wonderfully preserved medieval treasure trove. At its heart lies Il Campo, renowned as Italy’s most beautiful piazza, which bustles with life and is the scene of the frenetic Palio horse race twice each year.
Next we travel to San Gimignano, which is instantly recognisable by its thirteen stone towers, from which the town takes its nickname of ‘Medieval Manhattan’.
Enjoy beautiful views over the Tuscan countryside from the town’s lovely hilltop position.

Day 8 - Free Time or Cortona and Lake Trasimeno
Join our optional excursion along the shores of Lake Trasimeno to reach the splendid Etruscan town of Cortona.
Enclosed by ancient stone walls, the town enjoys a dominant position overlooking the Chiana Valley with views sometimes sweeping as far as Lake Trasimeno.
We return along the opposite shore of the beautiful lake.

Day 9 - Assisi
Included, full-day excursion to medieval Assisi, most famous as the native town of St. Francis.
Explore the Piazza del Comune, the Basilica di San Francesco, which features frescoes by Giotto, or one of the many pink stone churches and basilicas dotted throughout the town.

En route to our overnight stay in the Cremona area, we visit the wonderful Renaissance city of Florence.
There will be time at leisure to explore the many highlights including the charismatic Ponte Vecchio, the spectacular cathedral and bustling Piazza della Signoria.
