At its heart this beautiful 2,500-year-old city is famous for its landscaped gardens, narrow channels and traditional Chinese architecture. Many of the sites of the famous gardens of Suzhou, which date back as far as the 10th century, are still intact and some have been restored to their former glory, with a few listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As you wander around, you'll see narrow canals with cobblestone walks where rickety wooden houses lean against each other. You'll visit a traditional village and have the chance to experience the ethnic culture as you're invited into a family home. We will then continue to Yangshuo, one of the prettiest towns in Guilin. Explore West Street, an ancient road completely paved with marble, where you will find plenty of souvenir shops and cafés. After dinner this evening, perhaps join our optional excursion to see a performance of Impression Liu Sanjie – a spectacular show staged on the waters of the Li River with a stunning backdrop of mist-shrouded hills.
