  • DAY 1 UK/Yangon via Bangkok
  • ​Depart on your flight to Yangon via Bangkok, Burma's largest city, also known as Rangoon.​
  • DAY 2 Yangon
  • ​After checking in at your hotel, enjoy an included lunch at a nearby restaurant. A highlight of today will be our included sunset visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda. This golden stupa dominates the skyline rising almost 98 metres above the cityscape. Your Local Guide will introduce you to the fascinating Buddhist rituals practised in Burma, and there's the opportunity to purchase unique religious items.
  • DAY 3 Bagan
  • ​Today you'll take an early flight to Bagan, known as the 'city of four thousand pagodas', where you will stay for two nights. Your explorations begin at an elevated temple, which offers panoramic views of the Bagan plains and gives you a taste of the sheer number of temples that surround you. Visit the Ananda temple, with its striking gilded spires and gold leaf-adorned Buddha images, before strolling amid a host of other monuments where local farmers and families work. You'll also visit workshops producing lacquerware and wooden crafts.

    Early this evening you might choose to join our optional sunset cruise where you can absorb Bagan's beauty as you sip a cocktail. Later, dinner is included at a restaurant, with a traditional puppet show.​

  • DAY 4 Bagan
  • ​Start the day with an included visit to the lively Nyaung Oo market. You'll also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding villages, meet the locals and experience their daily lives. Lunch is included today.​
  • DAY 5 Mandalay
  • ​This morning, you'll fly to Mandalay, which will be your base for two nights. With the remains of the old Royal City and many monasteries, Mandalay is a showcase for art and 19th century architecture. Your included tour begins with a walk up to Mandalay Hill and a visit to the Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, where a huge Buddha carved from a single block of marble resides. After visiting the Shwenandaw Monastery you'll check in at your hotel. Your sightseeing resumes this afternoon with visits to the Mahamuni Pagoda and a drive to Amarapura to take a stroll along the U Bein Bridge which crosses the Taungthamen Lake. As the sun begins to set, casting an orange glow on the water, watch as local people and robed monks make their way across. This evening we include dinner at a local restaurant.​
  • DAY 6 Mandalay
  • ​This morning's excursion will take you to the famous Ayeyarwaddy River. You'll arrive at Mingun, home to the impressive Mingun Paya pagoda, which remains unfinished despite construction beginning in 1790. Explore the village, home to a bell said to be the largest uncracked working bell in the world, and enjoy a visit to the white pagoda complex at Settawya.
  • DAY 7 Pindaya
  • ​There's a long and rewarding day ahead as you journey by road to Pindaya, on the banks of the Botoloke Lake. Enjoy a lunch stop en route before arrival at your hotel. This evening, join a Local Guide on an orientation walk of the town, before dinner at your hotel.
  • DAY 8 Inle Lake
  • ​You're heading to Inle Lake today, with a morning visit to the renowned Pindaya Caves and a lunch stop en route. After a short tour of the small town of Nyaung Shwe you'll board a private motorboat and head to the lake. Dinner is included this evening.​
  • DAY 9 Inle Lake
  • ​Early this morning we offer an optional excursion which gives you chance to watch the sun rise from a boat on Inle Lake. Later you'll headt to the colourful five-day market, where you can watch the locals as they trade goods. This is followed by a visit to the five gold coloured Buddha images at Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery. In the afternoon we include a canal cruise to the village of Indein. Here, we'll stop for a picnic lunch in a bamboo forest. Climb the hill to come face to face with a glorious Buddha image which sits enshrined among hundreds of stupa ruins. If there's time before your return boat trip, you can learn more about the history and culture of the lake's indigenous people at Inthar Heritage House.​
  • DAY 10 Yangon
  • ​There's an early transfer to the airport today for your flight back to Yangon. Discover its highlights on an included tour. As you stroll downtown peer through alleyways crammed with food stalls and see the British colonial influences displayed in the area's architecture. You'll see the majestic Strand Hotel and ancient temples such as the Sule Pagoda before visiting the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda. There's time for a spot of shopping at Scott Market before you reach Chinatown, with its vibrant street stalls. This evening we include a farewell dinner at the fine-dining Le Planteur restaurant.​
  • DAY 11 Yangon/UK
  • ​Today you'll transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK via Bangkok.
