Not Included

  • DAY 1 UK/Bergen
  • Depart on your flight to Bergen today. On arrival, you'll be met and transferred to your ship, where you can settle into your cabin and explore your floating hotel at leisure.
  • DAY 2 Ålesund
  • Before your ship sets sail, there's time to step ashore in Ålesund, the base for Norway's largest cod fishing fleet. After a devastating fire in 1904, the town was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. As we explore on foot, take in all the sights of what is now one of Scandinavia's most complete architectural examples of this era.
  • DAY 3 Trondheim
  • Today we arrive at Trondheim, which is without doubt one of Norway's most picturesque towns. Ashore you'll have plenty of time to get your bearings as you take in the charm of its brightly painted wooden warehouses that sit on the water's edge. Perhaps enjoy a  stroll to the impressive 14th century Nidaros Cathedral, and stop for a coffee in a lively café.
  • DAY 4 Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands
  • There's sure to be an air of excitement on board today as you cross the Arctic Circle to reach the legendary Lofoten Islands. You'll be treated to a breathtaking landscape of glistening peaks, sheltered bays and pristine beaches, and that's before you step ashore. Once on land you'll be spoilt for choice – you can visit the world's first ice gallery, 'Magic Ice', to view beautifully lit sculptures, or why not opt for an evening of feasting and story-telling at a Lofotr  Viking Feast.
  • DAY 5 Tromsø
  • Soak up the scenery as you sail to Tromsø, gateway to the Arctic. The city is perfectly placed for sightings of the Northern Lights, if we're lucky. It's also the home of the world's northernmost brewery, the Mack Brewery, so there's a great selection of pubs if you fancy a beer. For a really authentic Nordic experience, why not come with us on an optional dog sledding excursion.
  • DAY 6 Hammerfest and Honningsvåg
  • We're going to set foot in Norway's most northerly towns today, with a morning call at Hammerfest, followed by time ashore in  Honningsvåg. This fishing community is the gateway to the  spectacular North Cape, and is a visual feast of fjords, waterfalls and forests. This evening we arrive at Kjøllefjord, where we offer a thrilling excursion – a snowmobile ride to Lapland. Your guide will tell you about life in the Polar region, and who knows, the Northern Lights might come out to play.
  • DAY 7 Kirkenes
  • Our final port of call is Kirkenes, just a few miles from the border with Russia and home to the Sámi communities of Northern Finland. What we have planned for you here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, an overnight stay in the unique Snowhotel. Your accommodation is made entirely of snow, the glasses in the bar are sculpted ice, and believe it or not, dinner is served around a roaring fire!
  • DAY 8 Kirkenes/UK
  • We'll take you to the airport today for your flight back to the UK.

    • MS Polarlys
    • On board facilities include a sun deck, restaurant, a la carte restaurant, bar, panorama lounge and observation lounge, sun deck, fitness room and shop.
    • Kirkenes Snowhotel
    • The Snowhotel in Kirkenes is built out of 15 tonnes of snow and ice. Snow is actually a very good insulator, so even when it might be -30°C outside, the interior of the Snowhotel remains at a stable temperature just below 0°c. Each snow suite is five meters in diameter, individually decorated with beautiful snow and ice sculptures, and equipped with insulated mattresses and a thermal sleeping bag that will keep you cosy, comfortable, and warm. Rooms are illuminated with LED lighting which gives off very little heat. WCs, showers and a sauna are located in a building next to the Snowhotel. Facilities at the hotel include 4 restaurants and a bar. The Ice-bar is constructed using the expertise of Chinese ice specialists and the Gabba Restaurant is built in the style of a traditional Sámi ‘lavvu’ and offers a dining experience around the fire. There will also be the chance to join additional exciting winter activities and excursions so you can discover more of the wonders of the Arctic.
