Staying in Austria’s stunning Tyrol, take in the superb scenery and discover centuries-old traditions. Experience one of the celebrated annual festivals, as we watch the cattle procession through a local village. Browse the market stalls, filled with wonderful produce in honour of the event, and visit Tratzberg Castle, set in a picturesque location in the Ziller Valley.
This is a lovely holiday, combining the natural beauty of Austria, with the country's traditions and celebrations.

Day 1: UK to Belgium
We’ll make our way from the UK to Belgium, via Calais, and will spend the night at a comfortable hotel.
Day 2: Belgium to Angath
In the morning, we’ll continue our journey into Austria and to Angath, where we’ll stay at the Gasthof Kammerhof for the next seven nights. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Days 3 to 8: Angath
Join us as we enjoy three included excursions, discovering Tratzberg Castle and Lake Achensee, as well as experiencing the annual Cows Down Parade. We’ll also visit Rattenberg and the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum and enjoy a traditional folklore evening. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 9: Angath to Belgium
Departing Angath we make our way to the Belgium for an overnight stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 10: Belgium to UK
We’ll return to the UK today, travelling from Belgium via Calais and then continuing home. (Breakfast)

Half Day: Gerlos Pass and Krimml Falls - Optional
Sit back and relax as we drive along the glorious Gerlos Pass, one of the country's most scenic mountain routes, for chance to enjoy the passing landscapes in this wonderful part of Austria. We’ll also call at Krimml, for chance to walk down to admire the famous waterfalls here.
Innsbruck - Optional
Innsbruck is the capital city of Tyrol and it's placement in a valley means it has high mountains on all sides. While at leisure in Innsbruck, you may choose to visit some of the many attractions the city has to offer, such as the Rococo-style Helblinghaus and, opposite it, the iconic Goldenes Dachl, which many see as Innsbruck’s symbol. This building features thousands of fire-gilded copper tiles that account for its name, which can be translated as ‘Golden Roof’.
Full Day: Scenic Tyrol Drive - Optional
Admire the spectacular scenery as we take a scenic drive through the Tyrol. Marvel at the amazing scenery this region is famous for along the way, and join us as we pay a visit to Kitzbuhel, known for its colourful houses. This medieval town is filled with stunning sights, which we can spend a short while exploring before we return to our coach for our relaxing return journey.
Full Day: Rattenberg and Traditional Tyrol - Included
Famous for its glass and crystal making, we visit the quaint town of Rattenberg, the oldest and smallest town in the Tyrol. Enjoy a stroll along the charming high street and maybe stop to browse the cake shops or glass shops, for which the town is renowned. We continue to call at the outdoor Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum for a fascinating glimpse into the traditional rural life of this region. After our dinner back at the hotel, we enjoy a short trip to enjoy a traditional local folklore evening.
Full Day: Traditional Cows Down Festival - Included
Today is one of our highlights, we we will get to watch the cattle procession through one of the beautiful Tyrolean villages. The herds are traditionally dressed in spectacular headdresses and brought down to the valley for the winter. You will hear the bells as the cows approach! The villagers celebrate the event, with market stalls, filled with food, drink and other local produce in honour of the event, so you can stroll around the village and soak up the atmosphere.
Full Day: Tratzberg Castle and Lake Achensee Cruise - Included
We visit interesting Tratzberg castle, which is set in a picturesque location in the Ziller Valley, where we take the short shuttle train up to the castle, to learn of its long and eventful history. After time here, we continue to Achensee Lake, where we enjoy a scenic cruise, to savour the wonderful surrounding mountain scenery.Back to top
