Summer is an ideal time to visit beautiful Lake Como; marvel at the dramatic lake scenery during the hot Italian summer whilst enjoying a lakeshore position at the Hotel Bazzoni. We’ll get to explore the impressive city of Bergamo, as well as venturing to stunning Lake Maggiore and discovering the fantastic sights of St Moritz.


During our wonderful holiday we’ll stay in Tremezzina, a quiet village on the western shore of Lake Como. This idyllic location is perfect for relaxation, where you can forget about the stresses of home and enjoy the lush countryside, sunny days, and peace and quiet.


We’ll be treated to three superb included excursions while we’re away, so we can explore the local and nearby areas to their fullest extent. This includes a trip to picture-postcard Lake Maggiore, the second largest lake in Italy, and enjoy some time in Stresa which offers a wealth of attractions plus panoramic views of the lake.

We'll also explore the exclusive Swiss resort of St Moritz, famous for its amazing mountain scenery.

Our final included excursion will take us to brilliant Bergamo, a city located in the foothills of the Alps and with some excellent attractions to take in. Explore at leisure to see sights such as Bergamo Cathedral, the Piazza Vecchia, and Bergamo’s upper city, which is surrounded by ancient Venetian walls dating from the 16th century.


Free Water Shuttle to Bellagio from May to September

Enjoy the complimentary water shuttle transfers across the lake from your hotel to Bellagio each day. Known as the 'Pearl of the Lake', the beautiful village of Bellagio has traditional stone lanes lined with interesting shops, cafes and gelato bars. You'll find lots to see and do here, with many picturesque gardens and ancient buildings to admire.


The shuttle is free for Shearings guests (subject to sailing schedule and weather conditions).


Free Water Shuttle/mini-bus to Hotel Britannia Excelsior from May to September

Make the most of your stay by using the facilities at nearby Hotel Britannia Excelsior. Connected by water shuttle during the day and mini-bus in the evening, these two hotels offer a vast array of restaurants, bars, and pools for your enjoyment.


The shuttle is free for Shearings guests (subject to sailing schedule and weather conditions).

Day 1: UK to France

We’ll make our way from the UK to Calais, before travelling onwards to France for our overnight stay.



Day 2: France to Lake Como

Today, we’ll continue south into Italy for an early evening arrival on the shores of Lake Como. (Breakfast, Dinner)



Days 3 to 8: Lake Como

Enjoy the wonderful lakeside setting and explore the surrounding area with our exciting excursions to St Moritz, Lake Maggiore and Bergamo. (Breakfast, Dinner)



Day 9: Lake Como to France

It’s time to say goodbye to beautiful Lake Como today, as we travel back to France for an overnight stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)



Day 10: France to UK

We’ll journey from France to Calais today, and will then make our way home. (Breakfast)

Hotel Bazzoni

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Como, the Hotel Bazzoni offers superb views across the lake. Newly acquired by the Whieldon family and refurbished for spring 2018, the Hotel Bazzoni promises to offer all the same facilities as the Britannia Excelsior whilst providing a more style and contemporary design. 



Set among the villas of the village of Tremezzina, directly opposite the pier with views over the lake to the towns of Bellagio and Villa Melzi. With Wi-Fi throughout and three bars, three restaurants and a swimming pool, sunbathing area and jacuzzi, there's plenty to do both inside and outside of the hotel.

Lake Como Cruise - Optional

Lake Como is thought of as one of the Italian Lakes’ most beautiful locations. The third largest lake in Italy, Lake Como is surrounded by opulent villas and alpine mountains, as well as having a relaxing atmosphere that’s impossible to resist. 



We’ll take a lake cruise to explore this magical location and to take in the wonderful scenery on all sides. Sit back and allow yourself to be guided around this enchanting lake, all the while wondering at the dramatic scenery.

 

Bergamo Guided Walking Tour - Optional

Explore Bergamo more with our optional guided walking tour, including a ride on the funicular railway.

Bernina Train - Optional

Experience a once in a lifetime journey on the Bernina railway, travelling from St Moritz and taking in breath-taking mountain scenery. Sit back and relax as we make our way over peaks and passes, soaking in the mesmerising views.

Borromean Islands - Optional

The unique Borromean Islands, located off the coast of Stresa, are a highly popular feature of the Italian Lakes. We’ll take the time to explore the wonderful Isola Bella, with its ornate royal palace and gardens, and will also enjoy entrance into the palace itself.


Undoubtedly the most famous of the Borromean Islands, Count Vitaliano Borromeo began the transformation in 1662 with the construction of the palace and the ornamental gardens.


The palace is full of ornate rooms, which are sure to remind you of a past full of grand receptions and sumptuous feasts. The most curious part of the palace is its grottoes; the walls are adorned with a mosaic of shells and pebbles and are a welcome retreat on a hot day!


We’ll also look forward to a visit to the island’s small fishing village, Isola Pescatori.

Full Day: Bergamo - Included

Bergamo can be found in Lombardy, situated in the foothills of the Alps and with a wonderful atmosphere that combines the city’s heritage with its modern attitude. There’s so much to do here - Bergamo boasts two centres, the Upper City (Citta alta) and the Lower City (Citta bassa). In the Upper City we’ll find Bergamo’s history, with the 14th-century Citadel, Bergamo Cathedral and numerous museums.


In the Lower City, we’ll discover Bergamo’s cosmopolitan heart. Here, there’s an art gallery dedicated to modern and contemporary art, as well as an excellent shopping district ideal for buying souvenirs and gifts.

Full Day: Lake Maggiore - Included


Lake Maggiore is another of the famous Italian lakes and is perfect for those who simply cannot get enough of this beautiful scenery. The lake is known for being the second largest of all the lakes in Italy, and is famous for its superb climate which allows a wide assortment of flora to grow. We’ll visit Lake Maggiore during our holiday and will be able to relax by the lakeshore for an entire day.


Full Day: St Moritz - Included

Sit back and relax during our drive through amazing scenery, travelling to the exclusive Swiss resort of St Moritz. Thought of as the home of Alpine tourism, St Moritz is a favourite with numerous celebrities and royals. Take in the views over Lake St Moritz, stroll along the lakeshore, or go shopping in the town centre. 

Half Day: Chiavenna - Optional

With its interesting history, splendid town squares, intricate palaces and amazing setting encapsulated by dramatic mountains, Chiavenna is not to be missed. We’ll spend a short while here to explore at leisure, taking in the historical architecture which has been perfectly paired with its traditional atmosphere.

Half Day: Como Market - Optional

An optional excursion to the bustling town of Como, with its old streets, to sample the atmosphere, products and aromas of the weekly market.

Half Day: Lugano - Optional

Lugano is one of the most popular lakeside cities in Switzerland. Named after the lake it sits on the banks of, Lugano is famous for its bustling atmosphere, amazing attractions and - of course - stunning location.



In Lugano, we’ll find narrow cobblestone streets lined with boutiques and excellent little shops where we can purchase souvenirs and mementos of our time here. We’ll also be able to take advantage of the many pavement cafes with superb views out over the lake, so we can admire the scenery here.
