The North East of England was once the most important centre of religious learning in the country. On this break, we’ll visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne as well as visiting pretty Hexham Abbey.

Day 1: Home to Gateshead
Your break starts today as you travel to Gateshead by luxury coach. Our coaches are a relaxing way to start your trip, as you’ll enjoy a large amount of legroom to stretch out and let beautiful British countryside pass you by. Tuck into a delicious evening meal on arrival and after check-in. (Dinner)
Days 2 to 4: Gateshead
We spend the next three days in Gateshead, discovering Northumberland on two included excursions. We visit Lindisfarne, a tidal island in the North Sea which is notable for the priory and castle which are located atop a rocky crag and make for a very atmospheric destination.
We also visit Hexham Abbey, parts of which are more than 1000 years old. The place is incredible and the grandeur of its insides are mesmerising.
We will have free time in Gateshead to enjoy a number of the local entertainment venues, with art galleries, great shopping and a number of great bars and restaurants. Or head across the Tyne to the superb city of Newcastle which has a huge number of great attractions. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 5: Gateshead to Home

Full Day Holy Island - Included
Today our adventure begins as we enjoy a visit to the delightful tidal island of Lindisfarne, also known as ‘Holy Island’ due to its ancient religious heritage. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is accessed by a causeway.
Half Day Hexham Abbey - Included
Today we visit Hexham Abbey in the historic market town of Hexham, where faith has been celebrated for more than 1,340 years. Be inspired by the sense of heritage, worship and community that are unique to this beautiful place.Back to top
