A short stroll from our hotel will bring you to the delightful market town of Keswick and our excursions will take you into the heart of the Lake District visiting the pretty village of Grasmere and bustling Ambleside, as well as taking a tour of the wonderful Lakes Distillery.

Your break starts today as you travel to Keswick by luxury coach. Our coaches are a relaxing way to start your trip, as you’ll enjoy a large amount of legroom to stretch out and let beautiful British countryside pass you by. Tuck into a delicious evening meal on arrival and after check-in at The Derwentwater. (Dinner)

Tuesday to Thursday: 

You’ll spend the next three days in and around Keswick. You’ll explore on our two included excursions and enjoy time at leisure to perhaps stroll into nearby Keswick. Our included excursions are to Grasmere and Ambleside and a tour and tasting at the fabulous Lakes Distillery. (Breakfast, Dinner)


Time to say goodbye today, after a delicious cooked breakfast at the hotel you’ll check out and get back aboard your luxury coach for the journey home. (Breakfast)

With its association to the Lake Poets and being the location of the ever popular Cat Bells hills, Derwentwater has long attracted visitors trying to find a classic lakeland setting. The Derwentwater hotel sits just off the lake’s shores and is the perfect base whether you want to explore the surrounding walking trails, see delightful Keswick or simply relax in the hotel.

The hotel is located on the north shore of Derwentwater, 10 minutes’ walk from Nichol End Marina where you can jump on a lake cruise to enjoy great views of the lake from the water level. A 20 minute walk or short bus journey away is the town of Keswick where you will find pubs, bars, cafes and independent shops to spend many hours enjoying the wonderful atmosphere and fantastic produce.

Further afield you will find more magnificent scenery of the Lake District, with famous walks including The Old Man of Coniston and Helvellyn, plus charming villages such as Buttermere and Grasmere within easy reach.

Staying a little closer to the hotel you can enjoy the picturesque grounds, home to lots of wildlife, or head to Oxley’s health spa which is about a five minute drive away. Here you can use the gym, pool and sauna, free of charge. In the restaurant you can expect delicious breakfast and evening meals as well as tasty light lunches in the conservatory and a relaxing drink in the recently refurbished bar before bed. As well as the standard rooms you can upgrade to standard plus, premier or superior rooms for more space and comfort as well as fantastic scenic views.
