A busy harbour, stunning beach and dramatic abbey ruins – all of which can be admired from this splendid seaside hotel. The Bay Royal Hotel is a great base from which to explore the local area and enjoy the entertainment. We’ll spend some time in delightful Thornton-le-Dale and charming Helmsley during our exciting excursion.

Day 1: Home to Whitby
Enjoy a superb start to a few days away as you travel by luxury coach to Whitby. Onboard you’ll be entertained by the onboard Wi-Fi and entertainment system Roadshow. After check-in at the Royal Whitby join your fellow travellers in the hotel’s restaurant for a delicious three-course evening meal. (Dinner)
Days 2 and 3: Whitby
We spend the next two days in the beautiful seaside town of Whitby, with an included excursion taking in the scenic North York Moors.
During our tour of the national park we will visit three of its most picturesque villages. We visit Thornton le Dale, which is famous for its pretty thatched cottages and quaint Thornton Beck which runs through the village. We also visit Pickering, with its castle and ancient churches and Danby, on the edge of Danby Low Moor.
You will have plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Whitby, enjoy beautiful Whitby Abbey or any of a number of museums including the Captain Cook Museum and Whitby Lifeboat Museum. Climb to the top of the old lighthouse for great views of the coast and the town, or just enjoy the view at the harbour, enjoying some legendary fish and chips. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4: Whitby to Home
It’s our last day! After enjoying a delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant we’ll travel home. Why not start planning your next Shearings break or order a brochure through the Roadshow entertainment system? (Breakfast)

With its pretty harbour and quaint riverside buildings, Whitby is the kind of town you could spend your whole holiday simply wandering around and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. There is a huge amount to do in Whitby including visiting Whitby Abbey and discovering the town’s history - it is the birthplace of Captain Cook and setting of Dracula.
Travel just outside of town and you will be in the stunning North Yorkshire Moors. Take a train into the heart of this region or hop on the bus and take in ‘Britain’s most scenic bus route’.
