Known as the Salzkammergut, Austria’s Lake District boasts many beautiful lakes, as well as some of Europe’s most picturesque villages. Join our journey, as we travel through deep valleys, rugged mountains and past glistening waters.
There will also be chance to visit the magnificent capital city of Vienna, where we will have some free time to explore and see magnificent landmarks such as St Stephans cathedral and the City Hall.
We'll visit pretty Hallstatt, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as enjoying the landscapes as we ride on the Schafberg Rack Railway.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Day 1: UK to Germany
We’ll make our way from the UK to Germany, via Calais, and will spend the night at a comfortable hotel.
Day 2: Germany to St Georgen im Attergau
In the morning, we’ll continue our journey to St Georgen, where we’ll stay for the next seven nights. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Days 3 to 8: St Georgen im Attergau
Explore the beautiful Salzkammergut with us, taking in the lakeland scenery as well as visiting Vienna. You may also choose to join our optional excursions to discover more of this region. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 9: St Georgen im Attergau to Belgium
Time to say goodbye to Austria today, as we retrace our steps back to our overnight hotel in Belgium. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 10: Belgium to UK
We’ll return to the UK today, travelling via Calais and then continuing home. (Breakfast)

Half Day: Mondsee and Attersee - Optional
Join our optional excursion, as we take you to see more of the Salzkammergut’s wonderful lakeside scenery. This region of Austria is famous for its lovely lakelands, so enjoy the views, as we pass alongside the charming lakes of Mondsee and Attersee, stopping for time to relax and explore.
Full day: Dachstein Spectacular - Optional
Today you may choose to join our optional trip, where our driver will take us on a scenic tour around more of the wonderful mountain landscapes of the area and get great views of the dramatic Dachstein. Simply sit back, relax and let us take you to the amazing scenery for which this region is renowned.
Half day: Gmunden - Optional
Let us take you to visit the charming little village of Gmunden, which is home to a pretty marina and popular promenade. Enjoy a stroll or have a coffee in the charming town square and watch the world go by. Gmunden is a delight to explore at your leisure.
Vienna guided city tour - Optional
Join our optional guided tour to learn more about Vienna’s fascinating history, and see why the city has attracted musicians, writers and artists alike. Our tour will highlight some of the city’s amazing architecture, magnificent landmarks and interesting attractions.
Full day: Bad Ishl and Halstatt - Included
Sit back and enjoy our scenic trip today as we call at the lovely spa town of Bad Ishl, close to some of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. We go on to the pretty village of Hallstatt, set on the banks of Lake Hallstatt, and dotted with charming pastel-coloured houses. Halstatt is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, for its beauty, but also its significance in natural salt resources, which helped the area to prosper in an otherwise untamed landscape.
Full day: St Wolfgang And Schafberg Railway - Included
The popular lakeside resort of St Wolfgang is known for its 15th-century church, traditional old town with cobbled streets and wonderful frescoed houses. After time to explore, we’ll take a ride of nostalgia on the rack and pinion Schafberg railway up to the mountain peak and enjoy simply stunning views of the surrounding region.

Relax as we journey eastwards to visit the magnificent city of Vienna – Austria’s cultural capital. Have time at leisure to stroll through the beautiful streets with impressive buildings and architecture at every turn. Top sights include the City Hall, St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Burggarten and you’ll find shops and cafes galore along the pedestrianised Graben and Karnter streets.Back to top
