Day 1: UK – Munich (Rail)
We board the Eurostar from St Pancras International to Brussels and continue to Munich for an overnight hotel stay.
Day 2: Munich – Passau (Air)
We take a train to join our ship in Passau, where the Danube, Inn and Ilz Rivers meet. Those travelling by air join today. You can relax on board as we cruise towards Bratislava, cruising through the beautiful Wachau Valley.
Day 3: Vienna
Experience the delights of Vienna, capital of Austria, where grand palaces, baroque castles, magnificent squares and grand monuments are just some of the many highlights. Join our optional city tour and also visit the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, before we cruise towards Kalocsa.
Day 4: Kalocsa
We arrive in Kalocsa this afternoon, a small village in the Great Plains of Hungary which is well known for paprika and embroidery. Our optional guided tour points out the highlights before we continue cruising towards Serbia.
Day 5: Belgrade
Belgrade lies at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and there will be plenty of time to explore the Serbian capital. You can begin by joining our optional city tour, which takes in the Belgrade Fortress and St Sava Church, the biggest Eastern Orthodox church in the world. . Later this evening we cruise towards Romania/Bulgaria.
Day 6: Eisernes Tor, The Iron Gate Gorge
Today we cruise through the stunning boundary between Romania and Bulgaria – Eisernes Tor, The Iron Gate. This is Europe’s largest river gorge and carves through the Carpathian Mountains. It’s a fantastic day to spend relaxing on the sun deck.
Day 7: Ruse
From Ruse you can join our optional excursion to see the rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo, one of which we visit. After a short city tour through the centre of Ruse we return to our ship before cruising towards Cernavoda.
Day 8: Cernavoda & the Black Sea
Our included coach excursion takes you to Constanta, the main port of Romania, where we enjoy a city tour before visiting Mamaia, the most famous seaside resort in Romania. Here we stop for lunch along with the chance to paddle in the Black Sea.
Day 9: Giurgiu, Romania – Turnu Magaurele, Romania
Today’s optional excursion visits the Romanian capital of Bucharest, where you can admire many landmarks including Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world after the US Pentagon, and the beautiful Romanian Atheneum. We return to our ship in the city of Turnu Magaurele and cruise towards the Iron Gate Gorge.
Day 10: Eisernes Tor, the Iron Gate Gorge
We enjoy another full day cruising through the spectacular Iron Gate Gorge.
Day 11: Novi Sad
Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia after Belgrade. Upon arrival you can join an optional guided tour taking in many highlights. The most recognised landmark is the Petrovaradin Fortress, which dominates the city from the banks of the Danube. Later, we’ll cruise towards Hungary.
Day 12: Mohács
We berth just across the Hungarian border in Mohács. In the afternoon you can join our optional excursion to Pécs, a beautiful city where you will see the cathedral and the Turkish mosque. Later this evening we cruise towards Budapest.
Day 13: Budapest
Join our optional city tour to explore the Hungarian capital of Budapest – one of the most beautiful cities in the world, along with a trip to the Puszta, a vast prairie where we visit a traditional ranch and enjoy a tour of the grounds in a horsedrawn carriage, before watching a spectacular live horse show.
Day 14: Bratislava
The historic city of Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. Join our optional guided tour to take in the main sights and experience the rich culture in and around the old town before our ship cruises towards Melk.
Day 15: Melk
Join our optional excursion visiting the Benedictine Abbey, one of the most famous monastic houses in Austria. You can then relax on board for the remainder of the day as we cruise to our final port of call.
Day 16: Passau – Cologne (Air)
We bid farewell to our captain and crew and travel by rail to Cologne, which has long list of attractions including its magnificent gothic cathedral. Here we check into our overnight hotel. Those travelling by air depart today.
Day 17: Cologne – UK (Rail)
We continue by rail to Brussels where our Eurostar connection takes us to London St Pancras International.
This 4 star ship exudes luxury and style together with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so you can enjoy an unforgettable cruise experience. Accommodation for 190 passengers is split over three decks which are all accessible by a lift. Excellent service and attention to detail are the priority of the captain and crew who are looking forward to welcoming you on board.
Main Deck cabins on the lower deck feature two small viewing windows, twin beds which are folded away during the day, allowing more space. Amenities include air-conditioning, en suite shower with wc, radio, satellite TV, safe and hairdryer. There is also a small desk and chair. Middle Deck cabins feature large sliding windows, two separate beds that are folded into sofas during the day, giving you space to relax in your cabin during the day. Amenities include air-conditioning, en suite shower with wc, radio, satellite TV, safe and hairdryer. Again there is a small desk and chair. Panorama Deck cabins which are the highest standard cabin aboard the ms Serenity are located on the upper deck and boast a French Balcony offering excellent river views. The cabins feature twin beds that are folded away during the day and amenities include air-conditioning, en suite shower with wc, radio, satellite TV, safe and hairdryer. As with all the other cabins there is a small desk and chair.
The spacious and attractive lounge is located on the main deck and ensures much cosiness on board. It’s a great place to meet your fellow guests and relax as you watch the scenery pass by. Lido Bar A unique feature aboard the ms Serenity is the lovely Lido bar situated to the rear of the Panorama deck which leads out to an outdoor terrace. Here you can sit and enjoy the fresh air whilst socialising over a drink or two!
The spacious Panorama Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy your included meals, where you are looked after by the highly professional and friendly service team. Meals are served at a single sitting and the menus include international cuisine along with traditional local dishes, freshly prepared by your onboard chef. Sun Deck On the Sun Deck you can enjoy commanding views of the river whilst you relax in comfortable surroundings. The area is equipped with furniture including comfortable lounge chairs and awnings.
