No matter where you go in Orkney you are surrounded by history, from the very ancient to the more modern, and all the while nature is on your doorstep. On the edge of the Arctic Circle, 130 miles north of the Scottish mainland, lies the Shetland Isles, an archipelago of 100 islands. Our island adventure includes convenient overnight stops and a mini cruise experience, making the journey a breeze.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Itinerary
Your Excursions
• We head north and overnight in central Scotland.• Skirting around Inverness we follow the beautiful east coast to Thurso, where we stay overnight.
• To the Orkney Isles as we board the ferry across the infamous Pentland Firth. Our guide meets us for a full day tour taking in the unspoilt coastal scenery and landscapes. Highlights include Scara Brae, Stones of Stenness, Ring of Brodgar, Italian Chapel and Scapa Flow. We take dinner at an Orkney hotel before catching the late ferry for our overnight sailing to Shetland.
• We take breakfast onboard before we join the coach and guide for a full day tour taking in unspolit coastline, Jarlshof Viking settlement and Scalloway Castle. We re-join the ship for dinner and another overnight on board.
• An early morning arrival brings us to Aberdeen, where following breakfast we continue to Glamis Castle and then to our final overnight stay in Perthshire.
• Continuing our journey south we head for home.

As this is a touring holiday, we stay in two hotels as well as the Northlink ferry. These tend to be smaller properties offering traditional accommodation. Some may not offer lifts. Details of the hotels used will be on your final itinerary.
