Venice Christmas Special
7 Days Away
Christmas in Italy, known locally as il Natale, revolves around good food and good company, which make it a wonderful choice of location to celebrate this very special time of year. We arrive in Mestre, the mainland section of Venice that serves as the anchor to the islands that form the famous canal ways and islands of architecture. Known for being the calmer, quieter end of the lagoon based city, Mestre is home to large public squares that capture the influence and money that poured out of Venice in the 13th Century and on Christmas Eve we cross the water to what is now one of the most famous locations in Europe. A feat of engineering and a lavish display of wealth, Venice is as magnificent as it was several hundred years ago, and with our local guide assisting us in navigating the annals and alleyways of this picturesque maze it feels even more spectacular at this very special time of year. Continuing the festive spirit we enjoy a four course dinner on Christmas Day, savouring the cuisine that has continuously and resolutely placed Italy on the map.
