Heidelberg
HeidelbergThe beautiful city of Heidelberg has plenty of charm and historic attractions. Built on the banks of the River Neckar, Germany’s oldest and most famous university city is surrounded by lush green forests and is renowned for its hilltop castle, iconic Old Bridge and Baroque-style Old Town full of narrow streets and grand, beautifully-preserved buildings. Pop to the Marktplatz to grab some local cuisine (anyone for crispy roast pork knuckles?) before browsing the little shops and don’t forget to admire the famous red sandstone Church of the Holy Spirit with its iconic basilica.
