Hadrian’s Wall & Chesters Roman FortBuilt some 2,000 years ago on the orders of emperor Hadrian following his visit to Britain in AD122, Hadrian’s Wall was once the northern frontier of the mighty Roman Empire. Stretching from coast to coast in northern England, with Roman ruins and fascinating museums to discover, this is the best preserved and best known of Rome’s great frontiers.
Chesters Roman Fort is part of Hadrian’s Wall and the most complete Roman cavalry fort in Britain, built to house a Roman army garrison guarding the nearby bridge across the River Tyne. The site boasts well-preserved baths and steam room, as well as officers' quarters.
Explore the rich history of Hadrian’s Wall, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and take in the spectacular views of the dramatic and rugged landscape.
