Lake District (Rails, Sails & Tails)Lake District (Rails, Sails & Tails)
This magical excursion exploring the best of the Lake District begins with a step back in time to the golden age of steam. We enjoy a nostalgic train journey on the heritage Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway through the stunning Leven Valley at the southern end of Windermere to peaceful Lakeside. From here we take to the water on a leisurely cruise on Lake Windermere, England’s largest natural lake, and admire the incredible views of mountains, sparkling waters and wooded islands.
We disembark in Bowness-on-Windermere, a charming resort on the eastern shores of the lake, where we enjoy free time to explore the craft shops, lakeside cafés and quaint tea rooms. There is also time to hop, skip and jump to the enchanting World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, with entry included. Beatrix Potter’s celebrated characters are brought to life in a magical setting, complete with sights, smells and sounds of the glorious countryside. Enjoy the endearing short film presentation and exhibition, discover the Peter Rabbit garden and browse the treasure trove of lovely gifts and souvenirs!
Ormskirk MarketOrmskirk Market
Ormskirk Market is one of the oldest and most traditional outdoor street markets in the UK, dating back to 1286 when King Edward I granted a Royal Charter here. Ever since then, the pedestrianised streets around the famous Clock Tower have hosted this popular market which offers around 100 different stalls. As well as a great range of food stalls showcasing Lancashire’s local food such as homemade pies and fine cheeses, there is also a selection of clothing, stationery, plants and more.
The traditional Victorian town of Southport is a must if you’re looking for a coach trip with the essence of a seaside holiday combined with fabulous attractions and stylish shopping.
With 22 miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches and the country’s oldest iron pier, the coastline attracts an array of wildlife. Its fantastic family attractions include Splash World Water Park, New Pleasureland, a traditional fun fair with thrilling rides, bowling, a cinema, crazy golf and the Lakeside miniature Railway.
