Doncaster Races
Doncaster RacesEnjoy a fabulous day at the races at one of the UK’s most iconic and best-loved racecourses, Doncaster. Whether you want to catch the oldest classic race, the St Leger, the prestigious Grimthorpe Chase or Lincoln, an evening meeting, family race day or live music event, Doncaster Racecourse offers a great variety of races throughout the calendar year and always delivers a memorable atmosphere.
Doncaster is one of the most historic racecourses in the UK, with racing at Turf Moor dating back to the 16th century. Steeped in history, Doncaster racecourse hosts 36 racing fixtures throughout both the flat and national hunt season. The racecourse’s flagship event is its September Festival, the highlight of which is the St Leger, the oldest and longest classic in the flat racing calendar which dates back to 1776. The Leger is the final race of the five British Classics, which also comprises the 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and the Oaks and Derby in June. See some of the best runners and riders in the UK compete for the line and trophy. Check the pedigree and form on the racecard, inspect the horses in the parade ring and roar your horse to the winning post. Fingers crossed you’ll manage to beat the bookies and will be celebrating in the Winner’s Enclosure! The course’s evening meetings are always popular, deliver an electric atmosphere and are a great unwind during the working week whether you’re a keen race goer or simply want to socialise with family or friends.
