Celebrate the yuletide season with a visit to Highclere Castle to enjoy a truly lavish and enchanting setting. Discover Downton at Christmas beautifully illuminated by sparkling lights with ornaments, garlands, and baubles on a huge Christmas tree in front of a roaring open fire. Experience the Christmas fair and unique gifts on offer, explore the Egyptian exhibition hidden in the castle cellar and embark on a delightful, wintry walk in the gardens. We also stop at Oxford’s festive market where we can indulge in a few seasonal treats and warming tipples.

Oxford also has a wide variety of shops, from high street stores to quaint individual boutiques and bookshops, peppered with plenty of restaurants and olde worlde taverns. The city’s literary connections include J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Oscar Wilde and it also provided inspiration for some of the sets in the Harry Potter films.
