Guided Tour of Dresden
We take a half day guided tour of the wonderful city of Dresden. Much of the city was damaged by bombs in World War II, but a programme of meticulous restoration has taken place resulting in the beautiful city you see today. The highlight of its skyline is the Church of Our Lady, which has been lovingly restored after laying in rubble for 45 years and not to be missed are the Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera House.
An interesting and emotive visit to Colditz Castle, set high on a cliff top and renowned as the Third Reich’s most secure prisoner of war camp with its medieval defences and its situation above a small, isolated town. According to Nazi authorities, Colditz Castle was impossible to escape from, but in all, 31 men performed the feat, with prisoners sharing their experience and ingenuity
