Journey south into the Atlantic
Join this delightful cruise on board Magellan as she heads south to the sun. Travelling along the Atlantic coast through Spain, Portugal and France, this voyage takes in beautiful cities - including La Coruna, Cadiz, Lisbon, Portugal and La Rochelle - as well as the fascinating British outpost of Gibraltar.
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas. Her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff, and a 50-million-dollar refit ensure her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home.

Day OneBoard Magellan in Liverpool before she sets sail this evening.
Day TwoToday finds Magellan in Dublin, the incomparable Irish capital. This engaging, vibrant city was home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, and was the birthplace of Shaw. It is also the site of Trinity College, Dublin. Enjoy rich culture, Grafton and O'Connell Streets packed with shoppers, and perhaps a stop in one of the cafes and coffee shops, or the famous bars and pubs.
Day ThreeToday is spent at sea, getting to know your fellow passengers and enjoying life on board as you sail south.
Day FourMagellan calls at the historic port of A Coruna, or La Coruna. It was from here that ill-fated Spanish Armada set sail, but today it is a lively port with a thriving fishing industry. Step ashore to explore the atmospheric medieval quarter, or stroll the seafront.
Day FiveSpend another lazy day at sea, hopefully relaxing in the sun.
Day SixAncient Cadiz, with its elegant squares, great cathedral and wonderful Botanical Garden, is a fascinating city. Step ashore to explore or to join today's optional excursions which will include a trip to Seville (the Cradle of Flamenco) with its sumptuous cathedral, famous bell tower, wonderful Alcazar and bullring.
Day SevenSpend today in the very British outpost of Gibraltar, in the shadow of the famous Rock. Search out a bargain in Main Street, and take a cable car to the heights above to see the famous Barbary Apes, and the views across the Straits to North Africa and the Atlas Mountains.
Day EightThe Portuguese capital, Lisbon, is Magellan's next port of call. See the contrasts between historic architecture and striking modern buildings in this city from which adventurers set out, in search of the New World, during the great Age of Exploration.
Day NineThe Portuguese port of Leixoes gives you the chance to step ashore, perhaps to join this afternoon's excursion to the historic city of Oporto in its pretty setting on the River Douro. The excursion will include a visit to one of the Port wine lodges, and also time for sightseeing - why not take a cruise along the Douro to complete your visit?
Day 10Magellan spends another day at sea, as she makes her way north towards France.
Day 11Today, Magellan reaches the port of La Pallice, situated in the beautiful seaside resort of La Rochelle. Step ashore to stroll through La Rochelle's pedestrianised centre, where attractive 17th- and 18th- century architecture lines the pretty streets.
Day 12Enjoy your final day relaxing on board as Magellan makes her return journey to Liverpool.
Day 13Disembark in Liverpool after a wonderful, sunny voyage. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
