Take a sunny journey south through the Atlantic
On this wonderful cruise, Marco Polo sails south to Gibraltar, at the mouth of the Mediterranean, and to explore the historic ports of Portugal and Spain. Visit the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, pretty Portimao, and Cadiz, where an optional shore excursion brings you the chance to visit Seville, one of Spain's greatest jewels and more sparkling than ever during the pulsating annual Feria.
In an age of vast, impersonal, floating hotels, 22,000-tonne Marco Polo, her profile marking her out as the epitome of sea-going elegance, is a beautiful ocean-liner in the classic tradition. Offering high levels of comfort, sumptuous dining and a genuinely warm welcome from the crew, Marco Polo will offer everything you'd expect of such a high-class vessel.

Day OneMake your way to Avonmouth to embark before Marco Polo she sets sail this afternoon.
Days Two and ThreeSettle into life on board Marco Polo, making use of the ships many amenities as she spends two days at sea.
Day FourThe Portuguese capital Lisbon stands on the River Tagus, down which the great adventurers sailed during the Age of Exploration. Today's shore excursion will introduce you to a city where the maze of narrow, hilly streets of the Alfamar district have stood, seemingly unchanged, for centuries.
Day FiveThe sun-blessed beaches and classic resorts of the Algarve welcome Marco Polo today. Soak up the sunshine, and head ashore to explore the pretty quayside and excellent shopping of picturesque Portimao. Alternatively, join an excursion, perhaps into the wooded mountains of Monchique, with their ancient hill-top villages.
Day SixToday Marco Polo arrives at the tiny British territory of Gibraltar, set beneath the famous 'Rock'. Explore the very British Main Street, and take the cable-car to the summit of the Rock, not only for the tremendous views to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, but also to meet the famous Barbary Apes.
Days Seven and EightAncient Cadiz, with its elegant squares, great Cathedral and wonderful Botanical Garden, is a fascinating city. Step ashore to explore or to join our optional excursions, which might include a trip to Seville, the Cradle of Flamenco and the host of a dazzling annual Feria. Stroll along the historic streets to see the sumptuous cathedral, famous bell tower, wonderful Alcazar and impressive bullring.
Day NineToday is spent at sea, with a host of on-board entertainments to pass the time.
Day 10The Portuguese port of Leixoes offers the opportunity to join an optional excursion to historic Oporto. Famed the world over for its port wine, 'Porto' is perched on granite cliffs above the River Douro, which is crossed by several vertigo-inducing bridges. Visit the Ribeira district, and take in one of the wine lodges for which the city is world-renowned.
Day 11Marco Polo's final call is at historic La Coruna. It was from here that the ill-fated Spanish Armada set sail, but today it is a lively port with a thriving fishing industry. Step ashore to explore the atmospheric medieval quarter, stroll the seafront or join an optional excursion to Santiago de Compostela - destination of pilgrims and arguably the world's first tourist destination.
Day 12A final day is spent at sea, no doubt recalling the memories of your voyage.
Day 13Bid farewell to Marco Polo and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise. Back to top
