Join Astoria for a classic autumn cruise in search of the Aurora Borealis. Call at four stunning ports along the beautiful fjord- and island-dotted coast of Western Norway, and head beyond the Arctic Circle to visit Europe’s northernmost region.Sailing north from Hull, Astoria’s first port is Bergen, where you can head ashore to explore the historic restored warehouses of Bryggen. Spend a day in pretty Andalsnes on spectacular Romsdalfjord before cruising north, watching the skies each evening in the hope of catching sight of the bewitching phenomenon of the Northern Lights. See Tromsø’s towering cathedral, and perhaps head from the remote village of Honningsvaag to the North Cape Hall visitor centre at Nordkapp on an optional shore excursion. As Astoria begins her scenic cruise home, you’ll spend a full day in the Arctic port of Alta, which offers the opportunity to discover the unique culture and traditions of Finnmark’s Sami reindeer herders. Calls in the pretty, pastel-painted city of Alesund and prosperous former fishing capital Stavanger complete your wonderful Arctic cruise.

Depart: 1815 Make your way to Hull, and board Astoria before she sets sail this evening.

Day 3Bergen, Norway
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1500hrs Compact and friendly, Bergen was once a great trading city within the Hanseatic League. It remains Norway's second city and, despite being sheltered from the sea by its seven hills and outlying islands, is unashamedly nautical in outlook. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of "Mount" Floyen.
Day 4Andalsnes, Norway
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1600hrs Astoria cruises into beautiful Romsdalsfjord and Andalsnes, today. From here, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy an excursion through some of Norway's most spectacular mountain scenery, and perhaps a chance to visit the famous wooden Rodven stave church in its dreamy setting beside the fjord. Day 6Tromso, Norway
Arrive: 1200hrs Depart: 1800hrs The largest settlement beyond the Arctic Circle, Tromso, its magnificent cathedral rising grandly from its bustling centre, is our port of call today. Step ashore to explore its daily market and fascinating Polarmuseum, which chronicles the lives and exploits of the likes of Amundsen and Nansen.
Day 7Honningsvag, Norway
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1800hrs Cruise way beyond the Arctic Circle, close to the coast of Finnmark. As Astoria docks in remote Honningsvag, you’ll have the chance to join an optional excursion to the famous visitor centre at Nordkapp (North Cape), which lies almost at Europe’s northernmost point. Day 8Alta, Norway
Arrive: 0600hrs (Day Eight) Depart: 0200hrs (Day Nine) Astoria spends a long day at her next port of call, remote Alta. Sky-gaze at your leisure (the Northern Lights are often at their most astounding here), or perhaps join exciting optional excursions to explore the Arctic region of Finnmark, home to the Sami people, see the prehistoric rock carvings at Hjemmeluft or visit the famous Ice Hotel.

Spend two days relaxing on board.
Day 11Alesund, Norway
Arrive: 0700hrs Depart: 1300hrs Alesund, with its natural harbours lined with pastel-painted, gabled and turreted buildings, is an unexpectedly beautiful port. Don't miss the town's fascinating Sunnmore Museum, which offers insight into life in this part of the world through the ages and boasts a fine boat collection.
Day 12Stavanger, Norway
Arrive: 0930hrs Depart: 1700hrs The prosperous former fishing capital of Stavanger, its sleek modern buildings (especially the striking Norwegian Petroleum Museum) contrasting with the white-painted, clapboard houses of its waterfront and old town, is Astoria’s final Norwegian landfall. Step ashore to wander before we enjoy a breathtaking passage though Lysefjord, where the towering Preikestolen rock formation soars above the waters. Optional Excursion:Iron Age Farm at Ullanhaug

Spend today relaxing on board as Astoria heads home.
