Celebrate the New Year A-ROSA style
From the moment you step on board you'll be free to do as little or as much as you wish - when you wish - by day and by night, on board and off, as A-ROSA DONNA carries you to the riverside capitals of Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, and to the lovely Austrian towns of Linz and Durnstein.
Make the most of the flexibility that your all-inclusive A-ROSA package offers and dine when you like, alone or with friends, enjoy cocktails and conversation at the bar, head to the on-board gym or pamper yourself with a treatment at SPA-ROSA. Take part in the activities on offer, sign up for the tours and trips available in each new port, or simply let your mood dictate your decisions each day. It's your time to use as you see fit.
Leaving Engelhartszell you'll spend a day on board cruising past the forested slopes of the Wachau Valley east to Budapest. After a memorable day exploring the Hungarian capital, you'll turn west and retrace your route in a leisurely fashion. After stopping in Bratislava to see the Slovakian capital's Baroque palaces, you'll arrive in glorious, iconic Vienna to spend an unforgettable New Year's Eve exploring the city and enjoying a host of New Year festivities on board. Calls in the impossibly pretty town of Durnstein and the cultured, cosmopolitan city of Linz round of your Danube cruise as you sail back to Engelhartszell.

Embark A-ROSA DONNA in Engelhartszell
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Day 1Travel to Munich, and board the coach for your included transfer to Engelhartszell on the banks of the Danube, where your A-ROSA river cruise ship waits, ready to get underway this afternoon. Alternatively, make your own way from home to the ship, in your own time, in time to embark.
Day 2Ease into the relaxed rhythm of everyday life on board your casual-but-stylish A-ROSA river cruiser as she spends the day gliding east through the Wachau Valley, past pristine forests, imposing waterfront castles and slumbering vineyards.
Day 3A guided city tour will introduce Budapest's many attractions today - the steeple-topped dome of Budai Var (the former Royal Palace and that now houses a number of the city's major museums) Matyas Church and the old town's elegant coffee houses.
You'll also have the chance to join the continuing festivities at the Christmas markets on Vorosmarty Square and in front of the Basilica, where performances of classical and folk music, and dancing, add extra energy and colour to the wooden craft stalls, ice rink and traditional Christmas delicacies.
Day 4Slovakia's beautiful capital, Bratislava, is a cosmopolitan mix of Central European influences and glorious Baroque palaces that guards the entrance to one of the Danube's many sweeping bends. Why not climb the Old Town Hall's tower, or to the observation platform at the top of Most SNP (the city's futuristic 'UFO' bridge) to take in the views across the city and the river?
Day 5Discover a city of Baroque palaces, historic churches and museums, elegant shopping arcades and pleasant open spaces on today's included tour of Vienna. Visit the Imperial Hofburg - home to the Spanish Riding School, Vienna Boys' Choir and the Austrian President. Wander the Ringstrasse and the elegant, pedestrianised Innere Stadt, and perhaps climb the spire of Stephansdom, Vienna's majestic Gothic cathedral.
Alternatively, board the coach and take a trip to the Schonbrunn Palace. This magnificent building was an Imperial summer home, and its great apartments and opulent saloons once echoed with the music of the young Mozart.
As evening falls, return to A-ROSA DONNA to continue your New Year celebrations and take full advantage of the special festive food and entertainment on offer as the New Year festivities begin.
Day 6After a morning cruising through the stunning scenery of the Wachau Valley, A-ROSA DONNA will stop at the beautiful town of Durnstein. Wander the narrow streets that wind gently up the slope from the riverbank, and discover Burgruine Durnstein, the castle above the town where Richard the Lionheart was once held captive, before returning to the ship to continue cruising west.
Day 7The riverside city of Linz welcomes A-ROSA DONNA today. Spend a full day and evening exploring this modern city and its contrastingly quaint old town, and don't miss the chance to sample a slice (or more) of the city's namesake delicacy, the sweetly nutty and fruity Linzertorte, before the final stage of your cruise back along the Danube begins tonight.
Day 8Your A-ROSA experience comes to an end this morning as you arrive back in Engelhartszell and disembark to begin your journey home. Back to top
