Day 1Head south to Hurghada, meet your tour manager and transfer to your well-appointed hotel to rest and relax after the journey. Later, enjoy your first dinner in Egypt.
Day 2After breakfast, you'll journey across the timeless red desert to Luxor, once the Ancient Egyptian capital, Thebes. Here vast, mysterious, extraordinary monuments ranged on both sides of the Nile reflect the wealth and power of the ancient Egyptians. Start your explorations on the East Bank of the Nile as you visit beautiful Luxor Temple and its colonnades and courtyards. After a fascinating first afternoon in the city, you'll transfer to your hotel for dinner.
Day 3Head away from the modern city, today, and cross to the Nile's fabled West Bank, to visit the awe-inspiring Valley of the Kings. Here, in 1922, Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon discovered the sand-blocked entrance to the treasure trove that was the tomb and monument of Tutankhamun. Your visit will take you to the Temple of the female Pharaoh, Hatshepsut, and gaze in awe at the twin Colossi of Memnon, which once stood guard at the entrance to a vast temple. Get a glimpse back through time into one of the most fascinating epochs of world history, as the lives and culture of the Ancient Egyptians are brought thrillingly to life. This evening, as a fitting climax to your stay in Luxor, join an optional excursion to see the stirring Son et Lumière at the temple, which pays homage to the pharaohs and recreates the great procession through the ruins to the sacred lake beyond.
Day 4Our final tour in Luxor takes us to the staggering Temple of Karnak, where the vast columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall – said to be able to contain 10 cathedrals – dwarf visitors to this immense monument. This afternoon, bid farewell to Luxor and travel back across the timeless landscape to the shores of the Red Sea where, in contrast to Luxor’s antiquities, all the modern comforts of your beach resort await. Settle in to your hotel, and get to know your sun-kissed surroundings, where rest and relaxation are very much the order of the rest of the day.
Day 5Enjoy a fun-filled day as you join your fellow guests aboard a day-cruiser, heading away from Hurghada to putter up and down the coastline and making the most of the crystal clear, warm waters. Swim or snorkel, catching glimpses of colourful marine life, and enjoy lunch and soft drinks on a Red Sea island as you spend a perfect day under sunny skies.
Day 6Head inland once again, today, as you enjoy an exciting guided safari by 4x4 into the desert sands of the Sahara. Take in the other-worldly colours of the ever-shifting landscape, and visit a Bedouin village to learn about the lives of the nomadic peoples that have made this harsh environment their home for millennia. Later, enjoy a barbecue under canvas and the opportunity to take a camel ride across the sands.
Day 7Make the most of a last full day in the Egyptian sunshine, whether in total relaxation or in more active pursuits in the resort or on the water. Alternatively, you may wish to join a city tour of Hurghada. This evening, join your fellow guests for dinner.
Days 8-11As some of your new-found friends head home, you'll be free to continue relaxing and making the most of your hotel's extensive leisure facilities. Relax with a book, stretch out beside the pool or take to the warm, clear waters of the Red Sea and enjoy optional activities like snorkelling, scuba diving and swimming, or even windsurfing and canoeing. Dry land activities on offer include tennis and aerobics, and there's always the chance to unwind and pamper yourself in the serene surroundings of the hotel spa. However you decide to spend your days, you can be sure of genuine hospitality and plenty of time to relax.
Day 12Bid farewell to your Egyptian hosts and transfer back to the airport to check in for your flight home. Back to top
