Detailed ItineraryAll days not listed are spent at sea enjoying the excellent facilities aboard Columbus. Ports of call may be subject to change.
Day OneJoin Columbus in London Tilbury, and leave behind the cold and grey of a British winter on the first Saturday in January.
Day TwoAs you familiarise yourself with your surroundings for the next few weeks or months, Columbus heads first to Dutch capital Amsterdam, where a few more passengers come aboard.
Day SevenIt's 'south to the sun' as you sail south and west, punctuating your Atlantic crossing with a call in the verdant Azores, a stopping-off point for sailors down the centuries.
Day 14Caribbean landfall is made in Barbados, where a day is spent in colourful Bridgetown, gateway to some of the island's most celebrated watering holes.
Day 16Today Columbus arrives in beautiful Aruba, in the Dutch Antilles, with its pristine beaches and European architecture. The island capital, Oranjestad, bustles with the distractions of duty-free shopping, while Arikok National Park offers up a landscape of cactuses, coastal views and abandoned gold mines.
Day 18A passage through the famous Panama Canal, after a chance to take an excursion by coach to Panama City, brings Columbus into the Pacific Ocean.
Day 23Soak up the atmosphere of Acapulco, Mexico's original 'fiesta town', before the next leg of your epic voyage sees you head west across the world's largest expanse of water, to the islands of the South Pacific.
Day 31After a week of balmy days at sea, Columbus calls in tiny Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Isles, with its picture-postcard-perfect harbour Taiohae.
Days 33-34Enjoy an overnight stay in colourful Papeete, capital of idyllic Tahiti - perhaps the most famous of the islands - with its Le Marche market, lush Vaipaha Gardens and near-perfect lagoon.
Day 35Legendary Bora Bora, another unforgettable island paradise - with its mountains, lagoons and perfect beaches - is our next stop, before Columbus crosses the International Date Line.
Days 40Columbus completes its quartet of Polynesian idylls in rugby-loving Tonga's colourful capital Nuku'alofa, home to a bustling main street, numerous churches, the Royal Palace and a lively market brimming with local produce, handicrafts and livestock.
Day 43After two further days at sea, Columbus arrives in Auckland, New Zealand's glittering 'City of Sails'. Step ashore, perhaps to take in the Auckland Museum or to enjoy a trip up the 328-metre Sky Tower, which offers outstanding views.
Day 44Columbus sails south to the Bay of Plenty and Tauranga, with its cafe life and Mount Maunganui beach resort, clustered beneath the extinct volcano from which it takes its name. Enjoy a day of rest and relaxation, or join a shore excursion to Rotorua, perhaps New Zealand's greatest attraction, with its hot springs, bubbling mud pools, hot springs and geysers, including Pohutu, the 'Big Splash', which can shoot twenty metres into the air.
Day 46A visit to New Zealand's South Island brings a call in Akaroa on the headland to the south east of Christchurch. Often described as "the most English city outside England", Christchurch is 'a city reimagined' since the earthquakes of 2011 and 2016, where highlights include the highly original Re:START retail park built out of shipping containers, the quirky 'Cardboard Cathedral', the restored historic tramway and Quake City, which tells the story of the earthquakes and includes numerous artefacts including the top of the wrecked original Christchurch Cathedral's spire.
Day 47This pretty former whaling station and busy port is surrounded verdant, forested hills, and as well as boasting a trio of fascinating museums is gateway to the stunning Marlborough Sounds, an astoundingly beautiful region of hidden coves, rocky headlands and islets overlooking the Cook Strait.
Day 51A cruise across the Tasman Sea brings Columbus to Sydney, Australia, your final destination. Disembark the ship and explore this great city. Back to top
