Go in search of the Aurora Borealis
Join Magellan as she cruises north along Norway's stunning coastline in search of the remarkable Aurora Borealis, one of Earth's most awe-inspiring sights. Discover breathtaking scenery as Magellan navigates her way around the fjords and islands of Norway's coast, making calls at a string of gorgeous ports, including Bergen, Tromso and Olden, and allowing time for a stop in Rotterdam en route.
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas. Her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff, and a 50-million-dollar refit ensure her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home.

Day OneMake your way to the port of Tilbury to board Magellan. We'll set sail this afternoon, and you'll have time to relax and enjoy dinner and entertainment on board.
Day TwoMagellan's first stop is the Dutch maritime city of Rotterdam, home to world-class museums, stunning Erasmus Bridge and the remarkable Markthal food market. Explore the lovingly preserved Old Harbour and stroll past nearby Delfshavn's step-gabled houses and ancient wharves.
Day ThreeGet to know Magellan, her crew and your fellow cruise travellers as you spend a day relaxing at sea.
Day FourToday you'll call at Olden, and have the chance to join an optional excursion to the famous Briksdal Glacier. Travel through sublimely beautiful countryside to find this immense cliff of ice, which is actually just one of the 50 arms of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, and governs the entire eastern reach of the Nordfjord.
Day FiveBeautiful Kristiansund is our port of call today. This beautiful town sits on a cluster of four islands, and is the starting point of the Atlantic Ocean Road - a five-mile ribbon of roads and bridges that links the islets and skerries that skirt this part of the Atlantic coast.
Day SixAnother relaxed day at sea as Magellan sails even further north.
Day SevenMagellan's next port of call is remote Alta. Spend your time skygazing - the Northern Lights are at their most astounding here - or explore the Arctic region of Finnmark, home to the indigenous Sami people, the prehistoric rock carvings at Hjemmeluft and the world-famous Ice Hotel.
Day EightCruise way beyond the Arctic Circle, close to the coast of Finnmark. As Magellan docks in remote Honningsvaag, you'll have the chance to join an optional excursion to the famous visitor centre at Nordkapp (North Cape), which lies almost at Europe's northernmost point.
Day NineToday Magellan calls in Tromso, recognisable for its magnificent Arctic Cathedral that rises proudly from its bustling centre. Explore the daily market and fascinating Polarmuseum, which chronicles the lives and exploits of the likes of Amundsen and Nansen.
Day 10Today is spent at sea, relaxing as Magellan turns south.
Day 11Beautiful Trondheim, picturesquely set between a loop in the River Nid and stunning Trondheimsfjord, welcomes us this morning. Soak up the atmosphere of a city that was once the capital of Viking Norway. Explore the imposing Nidaros cathedral, the restored Archbishop's Palace, and the impressive Stiftsgarden, which is now a royal residence.
Day 12Today Magellan sails into spectacular Andalsnes, and you'll have an opportunity to enjoy an excursion through some of Norway's most spectacular mountain scenery. Look out for the renowned wooden Rodven stave church in its gorgeous setting beside the fjord.
Day 13Today we'll reach Bergen, birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Wander its cobbled streets past attractive medieval houses, visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, or take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.
Day 14Enjoy a final day at sea, reliving the memories of a wonderful holiday.
Day 15Disembark in Tilbury at the end of an unforgettable cruise. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
