Full Itinerary Day One Join Magellan in Liverpool, before she sets sail this evening. Day Two Magellan's first point of call is delightful Dublin, the incomparable Irish capital - once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift. Relax in one of the city's many bars and pubs, cafes and coffee shops, or shop on Grafton and O'Connell Streets as you get to know the city. Day Three Enjoy a relaxing day at sea, getting to know your ship and your fellow passengers. Day Four Today, Magellan docks in Kirkwall, the historic capital of Orkney. Perhaps visit its magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral. A mile away are the waters of fabled Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sank in WW2. Optional shore excursions will include highlights of the island's unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife. Day Five Today's destination is Kollafjordur, in the Danish outpost of the Faroes. Step ashore to explore this remote settlement, with its ancient, turf-roofed church, and don't miss the opportunity to visit the tiny island capital, Torshavn. The islands' inhabitants are guardians of a deep-rooted Norse tradition and live surrounded by natural beauty in this birdwatcher's paradise. Day Six Today finds Magellan in the stunning natural harbour of Seydisfjordur, one of Iceland's most beautiful coastal locations. The town's pretty, Norwegian-style houses are backed by high mountains, and from here ferries and a sub-ocean telephone cable connect Iceland to the outside world. The town is known as the cultural capital of east Iceland, and is gateway to yet more breathtaking countryside. Day Seven The next Icelandic port of call is Akureyri, on the rugged north coast, where the summer days are longest of all. The area beyond this thriving winter resort is wondrously scenic, with the thundering Godafoss Falls and volcanic Lake Myvatn both nearby. Day Eight This morning Magellan arrives in tiny, exquisite Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords area. Visit the replica Viking farmstead at Eiriksstadir, once home of Eirik the Red (who left it to settle Greenland) and birthplace of Leif the Lucky, who discovered America. Experience a treasure trove of natural wonders such as the glacier on mystical Snaefellsjokull, which is Iceland's newest national park. Days 9-10 Today Magellan docks in the world's northernmost capital, the fascinating city of Reykjavik. Step ashore to spend two days exploring, perhaps taking the lift to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church for a panoramic view, or visiting the fascinating Arbaer Folk Museum and the Saga Museum. Witness geothermal activity at the famous Blue Lagoon Pool and at the original Geysir - after which all others are named. Day 11 Relax as Magellan spends the day at sea to begin her return journey. Day 12 Enjoy a last day at sea with your fellow passengers. Day 13 Magellan arrives back in Liverpool this morning, at the end of a wonderful Iceland cruise. Back to top

Accommodation

Magellan

At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.

Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.

Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.
