Join Magellan in Liverpool as she begins an unforgettable cruise to Iceland. Spend lazy days at sea as Magellan cruises north to the Icelandic coast before visiting three fascinating ports, including the island capital, Reykjavik. Discover the history and culture of this fascinating, stunning island-nation where geothermal heat is used to warm vast greenhouses filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, little cities buzz with energy and enthusiasm, and the rugged landscape manages to be at once forbidding and unimaginably beautiful.
As Magellan cruises south, you'll also have opportunities to explore Klaksvik, the main town of the Nordoyar (the six northeasternmost Faroes) which shelters beneath smooth-sloped peaks surrounded by a birdwatcher’s paradise of green meadows, and to spend a night in Torshavn, the Faroes' tiny, colourful capital.

Day 1Depart from Liverpool
Depart: 2000hrs Board Magellan in Liverpool today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.
Day 2Dublin, Ireland
Arrive: 0700hrs Depart: 1800hrs Magellan's first stop is Dublin. This great city of culture, once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, is one of Europe's most engaging capitals. Grafton and O'Connell Streets are popular with visitors, as are the city's famous bars and pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
Days 3 and 4At sea
Spend two days relaxing and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers as Magellan cruises north.
Day 5Reykjavik, Iceland
Arrive: 0700hrs Depart: 1900hrs Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital. Its brightly painted wooden buildings contrast sharply with the stunning beauty of its setting beneath Mount Ejsa. Step ashore to explore, take the lift to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church for a panoramic view, or visit the fascinating Arbaer Folk Museum and the Saga Museum.
Day 6Isafjordur, Iceland
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1800hrs This morning Magellan arrives in tiny, exquisite Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords area, and gateway to the magical, mystical land of West Iceland from which Norse sailors set out to discover Greenland and the New World.
Day 7Akureyri, Iceland
Arrive: 0800hrs Depart: 1900hrs Akureyri, on Iceland's rugged north coast, is a thriving winter sports centre and home to a fascinating Botanical Garden. The area beyond is wondrously scenic, and today's excursion, to the Godafoss Falls and volcanic Lake Myvatn, will highlight many of its delights.
Day 8Seydisfjordur, Iceland
Arrive: Depart: Today Magellan calls in the stunning natural harbour of Seydisfjordur, one of Iceland's most beautiful coastal locations. From here ferries and a sub-ocean telephone cable connect Iceland to the outside world. Wander the streets lined with Norwegian-style houses or head inland to discover yet more breathtaking countryside.
Day 9At sea
Relax on board and relive the memories your cruise around Iceland as Magellan spends another day at sea.
Day 10Klaksvik, Faroes
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1800hrs Magellan makes a rare call in Klaksvik, capital of the Nordoyar (the six northeasternmost Faroe Isles). Many of the inhabitants of this remote Danish outpost are direct descendants of the Vikings, and still speak an ancient Norse language. Sheltered by conical mountains, Klaksvik is surrounded by a birdwatcher's paradise of green meadows that you'll be able to explore on today's optional shore excursion. This evening Magellan sails on to dock in Torshavn for the night.
Day 11Torshavn, Faroes
Arrive: 2030hrs (Day 10) Depart: 1600hrs (Day 11) Torshavn, the tiny capital of the Danish Faroe Islands, is Magellan's next, overnight, stop. The Faroes are a birdwatchers' paradise in the heart of the Gulf Stream, and their inhabitants live surrounded by natural beauty. Discover Torshavn's confusion of lanes and narrow passages, black-tarred houses with turf roofs and modern centre, or join an excursion to another part of the islands, perhaps crossing the famous ‘Bridge across the Atlantic', which connects the main island of Streymoy with smaller Eysturoy.
Day 12At sea
Make the most of your final day aboard Magellan as she cruises back towards Liverpool.
Day 13Arrive back at Liverpool
Arrive: 0700hrs Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise. Back to top
