Bookended with calls in the Danish ports of Kalundborg - from where you might visit the capital, Copenhagen - and historic Aalborg, this autumn cruise from Hull features a series of rarely visited Baltic ports. Explore two picture-book Scandinavian islands, Estonia’s stunning capital Riga, Lithuania’s Klaipéda and magnificent Polish maritime city of Gdansk.
Rest and relax aboard Astoria, as she cruises north from Hull to Warnemünde, where you'll be able to head to Rostock, seat of northern Europe’s oldest university, and join an optional shore excursion to the German capital, Berlin. Two idyllic isles – Danish Bornholm and Swedish Gotland – are followed by calls in Riga, a town of Art Nouveau treasures with a UNESCO-listed "Quiet Centre", and Klaipéda. Gdansk, on its beautiful bay and with its lovingly restored medieval core, and Jutland’s Aalborg, with its old town and castle, are your final stops before Astoria returns to Hull.

Day 3Kalundborg, Denmark
Arrive: 1300hrs Depart: 2100hrs The pretty little port-city of Kalundborg nestles beneath the five-spired shadow of the Church of Our Lady on the west coast of Zealand, almost exactly opposite Copenhagen on Zealand's east coast. As Magellan calls here you'll have the chance to join an optional shore excursion taking you across the island to stroll the Danish capital's stylish streets and the sculpted walkways of the Tivoli Gardens, see the bronze figure of the Little Mermaid beside the harbour and perhaps stop for a drink at one of Nyhavn's many waterside bars.
Day 4Warnemunde, Germany
Arrive: 0830hrs Depart: 2200hrs This morning Astoria arrives in Warnemunde. Discover the port's charming gabled houses and historic Neuer Markt, or join the optional excursion to Berlin to explore the city's highlights - from the Brandenburg Gate and the 1926 Olympic Stadium to Hitler's Bunker and Checkpoint Charlie.
Day 5Ronne, Denmark
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1600hrs It's easy to see why the Danish island of Bornholm is so popular with Scandinavian visitors. The pretty port-town of Ronne, with its traditional half-timbered and newer brick-built houses, its St Torv market place and its fascinating museum showcasing the island's history of grandfather-clock-making, is gateway to this holiday paradise. Enjoy stepping ashore to discover the town, and the countryside and beaches beyond.
Day 6Visby, Sweden
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1500hrs Astoria's second Baltic island call is at the Swedish island of Gotland. Discover its UNESCO-listed capital, Visby, a medieval treasure trove of wooden cottages, cobbled streets and Gothic churches surrounded by the best-preserved medieval city wall anywhere in Scandinavia, or head out of the town to explore the island's archaeological sites, iconic rock formations, tranquil countryside and fine beaches.
Day 7Riga, Latvia
Arrive: 1200hrs Depart: 1800hrs Set on the bank of the Daugava River, Riga is a city of striking ultramodern buildings arranged around a walled, historic core. Step ashore to visit the Dutch-influenced House of the Blackheads, Riga Castle, the towering Freedom Monument and both of the city’s magnificent cathedrals. The city’s Quiet Centre district boasts some of the best-preserved Art Nouveau architecture in the world, while Dome Square beside the cathedral in the old town is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink.
Day 8Klaipeda, Lithuania
Arrive: 1230hrs Depart: 2000hrs A call at the once-secretive port of Klaipeda, Lithuania's third-largest city, gives you the chance to explore the city's old town, with its half-timbered houses, cafes and gift shops. Venture further afield, on optional shore excursions, to the vast sand dunes of the Curonian Spit National Park or to the fascinating Zemaitija National Park, where a top-secret Soviet base once aimed missiles at the West.
Day 9Gdansk, Poland
Arrive: 0600hrs Depart: 1700hrs The great maritime city of Gdansk is one of New Europe's most sparkling jewels, with its lovingly restored core a medieval masterpiece, and its bustling waterfront a hive of activity. Watched over by gigantic, red-brick St Mary's Church, as well as the towering cranes of the Gdansk - formerly Lenin - Shipyards, the city is the epitome of 21st Century, yet retains a sense of its tumultuous and colourful past.
