Join us on board Marco Polo as she cruises through the Baltic to some of Northern Europe’s least-known ports. See the copper -roofed Wasserkunst fountain that stands at the heart of Wismar’s vast Market Square surrounded by six centuries -worthof Germany’s finest architecture. Wander the pretty streets of half-timbered houses around Ronne’s St Torv market on Danish Bornholm, and see the wooden cottages, cobbled streets and Gothic churches that shelter behind Visby's city walls on Swedish Gotland. Cross to mainland Sweden for the chance to see Karlskrona's beautiful churches and magnificent squares, and sail south to Baltisyk on the Russian coast - one of the Cold War's most secretive ports - and Gdansk - one of Poland's most unexpectedly beautiful cities.As Marco Polo cruises back towards the tranquil waters of the Kiel Canal you’ll have plenty of time to relax on board and to discover one final beautiful Baltic island as Marco Polo follows the chalk cliffs of the Jasmund Peninsula to Sassnitz on the German island of Rugen.

Day 1

Depart from London Tilbury
Depart: 1600hrs Join Marco Polo in Tilbury, and relax on board as she begins here voyage north this afternoon.

Day 2

Transit Kiel Canal
Marco Polo spends today at sea, cruising into the Kiel Canal via Brunsbuttel in northern Germany.

Day 3

Wismar, Germany
Arrive: 1400hrs Depart: 1900hrs Your call in the German port of Wismar, today, brings an opportunity to discover this stunning, UNESCO-listed former Hanseatic city. See its beautifully restored Altstadt, its vast Markt square and its towering, red-brick Gothic cathedral. Wander through streets lined with beautiful gabled buildings and look out for the 'Swedish Heads' - colourful, moustachioed busts dotted around the city.

Day 4

Ronne, Denmark
Arrive: 0800hrs Depart: 2300hrs Today Marco Polo calls at the pretty port of Ronne, on the Danish island of Bornholm. This attractive town is a hugely popular destination for Scandinavian visitors. Discover its St Torv market and the charming mix of half-timbered and newer brick-built houses that surround it, or visit the fascinating museum that showcases the island’s history of grandfather-clock-making.

Day 5

Karlskrona, Sweden
Arrive: 0800hrs Depart: 2000hrs Set on Sweden’s beautiful southern coast, in the midst of a myriad offshore islands and islets, the port-city of of Karlskrona is home to the country’s only naval base, and boasts a beautiful, UNESCO-listed, Baroque old town.

Day 6

Visby, Sweden
Arrive: 0800hrs Depart: 1600hrs Marco Polo's next Baltic island stop is Swedish Gotland. Here, the stunning, UNESCO-listed capital, Visby, is a medieval treasure chest of wooden cottages, cobbled streets and Gothic churches, all surrounded by well-preserved defensive walls. Inhabited since prehistoric times, Gotland boasts some fascinating archaeological finds as well as the unique rauk: eroded rock formations that dot the landscape.

Day 7

Baltisyk, Russia
Arrive: 0830hrs Depart: 2359hrs This rarely visited Russian port is your gateway to the vast sand dunes of the Curonian Spit, one of the Baltic coast’s most striking natural wonders.

Day 8

Gdansk, Poland
Arrive: 0600hrs Depart: 1700hrs The great maritime city of Gdansk is one of New Europe's most sparkling jewels, with its lovingly restored core a medieval masterpiece, and its bustling waterfront. Watched over by gigantic, red-brick St Mary's Church, as well as the towering cranes of the Gdansk - formerly Lenin - Shipyards, the city is the epitome of 21st Century, yet retains a sense of its tumultuous and colourful past.

Day 9

Mukran, Germany
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1800hrs Mukran, the port of Sassnitz on the Baltic island of Rugen, has been one of northern Germany's most celebrated holiday playgrounds since the 19th Century. Step ashore to discover a delightful landscape of beaches, tree-covered chalk cliffs and ancient woodlands, as well as several classic holiday resorts that have welcomed the German nobility through the ages, and between which steam-hauled trains make their scenic journeys.

Days 10-11

Transit Kiel Canal
Enjoy a leisurely two days on board as Marco Polo makes her return journey along the Kiel Canal.

Day 12

Arrive back at London Tilbury
Arrive: 0600hrs Disembark in London Tilbury, this morning, after a delightful Baltic cruise. Back to top

British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise.
