Our wonderful 'sceptred isle'
Orkney's Kirkwall and pretty Tobermory, on Mull, as well as the sub-tropical paradise of the Scillies, are among the highlights of this cruise, which also features Dublin, Guernsey and Honfleur.
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas. Her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff, and a major refit in 2010 ensure her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home.

Day OneBoard Magellan in Tilbury today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.
Day TwoMagellan's first call is Amsterdam. Spend the day exploring canals, flower markets and museums, wander the cobbled streets, or take to the water on a canal cruise.
Day ThreeHonfleur lies at the mouth of the River Seine, and is gateway to the glorious Normandy countryside. Explore this favourite retreat of the French Impressionists, with its harbour surrounded by gabled houses. Perhaps venture further afield on an excursion to Monet's idyllic house and garden at Giverny or to fashionable Deauville.
Day FourGuernsey's delightful St Peter Port welcomes Magellan this morning. Spend the day exploring this beautiful Channel Isle - see Castle Cornet, which guards the entrance to the harbour, and the medieval, cobbled central quarter of St Peter Port, where countless shops and colourful stalls offer the chance to indulge in some tax-free shopping.
Day FiveThis morning finds us in the fabled Isles of Scilly, where you can go ashore by tender to explore tiny Hugh Town on St Mary's, and the flower-strewn byways beyond. You'll also have the chance to take an excursion to stunning Tresco, where the world-famous Abbey Gardens house Britain's finest sub-tropical plant collection.
Day SixToday finds Magellan in Dublin. The cultured Irish capital - once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift - is one of Europe's most engaging cities. See Trinity College, shop your way along Grafton and O'Connell Streets, and relax in one of the city's famous bars and pubs.
Day SevenMagellan calls at the great city of Belfast today. Explore the historic city centre with its great buildings - including City Hall, Stormont Castle, Queen's University and monumental St Anne's Cathedral - and the extraordinary Belfast Titanic Quarter. You may like to join an optional excursion to the wild Antrim coast, where you'll discover the fascinating Giant's Causeway.
Day EightArriving in the Scottish port of Greenock, you might join an excursion to one of two famous and fascinating cities. In Edinburgh, explore the Royal Mile, shop in Princes Street or take in city views from the ancient Castle's ramparts. In Glasgow, discover 'Scotland's style capital' with its culture, architecture and design.
Day NineThe beautiful island of Mull offers breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and a spectacular coastline. The small town of Tobermory, with its picturesque, multi-coloured houses encircling the waterfront, is a delightful place to explore - as is nearby Duart Castle, the famous seat of Clan Maclean.
Day 10The tiny harbour of Portree, on the sheltered eastern coast of the mystic Isle of Skye, is gateway to a rugged land of windswept moors, the great Cuillin 'Hills' and a coast teeming with wildlife. Historic Dunvegan Castle, the world's longest continuously inhabited fortress, can be explored on a shore excursion this afternoon.
Day 11Today Magellan arrives in Kirkwall, Orkney's historic capital. Wander the streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join an excursion to fabled Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.
Day 12Spend a final day at sea making the most of every moment of relaxation.
Day 13Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
