After calling at the historic Scottish port of Dundee, Magellan will follow the Scottish coastline north to Orkney. Step ashore in Kirkwall to see St Magnus Cathedral, or cross the island to gaze out across the historic waters of Scapa Flow, before Magellan cruises further north to Shetland. Explore the island capital, Lerwick, or join an optional shore excursion to the remarkable archeological site at Jarlshof.Your final port of call will be Torshavn, the tiny capital of the Faroe Isles, a birdwatchers’ paradise in the heart of the Gulf Stream. Day 1Depart from Newcastle
Depart: 2000hrs Board Magellan in Newcastle, today, settle in to your cabin and relax as your cruise begins.
Day 2Dundee, Scotland
Arrive: 0830hrs Depart: 2145hrs Magellan's first call is the historic Tayside port-city of Dundee, where some Scottish passengers will come aboard. Explore this engaging city, home to Captain Scott’s Royal Research Ship Discovery, a beautifully restored example of the days when maritime adventures were less luxurious affairs.
Day 3Kirkwall, Orkney Isles
Arrive: 1200hrs Depart: 2200hrs At lunchtime, Magellan arrives in Kirkwall, Orkney's historic capital. Wander the streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join an excursion to fabled Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.
Day 4Lerwick, Shetland Isles
Arrive: 0700hrs Depart: 1700hrs Magellan's next northern island call is the Shetland Isles capital, Lerwick. Spend time exploring this rugged but enchanting town, or join an excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Day 5Torshavn, Faroes
Arrive: 0900hrs Depart: 1800hrs Tiny, Toytown-like Torshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands. Explore its confusion of lanes, narrow passages and black-tarred houses with green turf on the roofs, or join an excursion, perhaps to cross the famous Bridge across the Atlantic connecting the main island of Streymoy with the spectacular scenery and ancient wooden churches of smaller Eysturoy.
Day 6At sea
Spend today relaxing on board.
Day 7Arrive back at Newcastle
Arrive: 0600hrs Say goodbye to Magellan, her crew and your fellow passengers as she arrives in Newcastle, today, and you disembark at the end of a wonderful cruise. Back to top
