Day 1
Fly to Venice or Ljubljana and board the coach for the transfer to Lake Bled and your hotel. Settle into your surroundings and enjoy a welcome drink before dinner is served.Day 2
Today's included excursion is to the Slovene capital Ljubljana, a Baroque gem straddling the River Ljubljanica, with its walkways, elegant bridges and enchanting Old Town dressed for the festive season. Enjoy a guided introduction from your Tour Manager, then soak up the atmosphere of this delightful, laid back city. Explore its wonderful Christmas market, with stall holders selling craft-ware and local produce, and countless bars and cafes that are perfect for watching the world go by. Return to Bled and the hotel in time for dinner.Day 3
Get to know the wonderful lakeside resort town, ringed by forested hills and looking out across the lake to an offshore island crowned by its Gothic church. Wander the stalls of the Christmas market or perhaps join the optional walk up to famous Bled Castle, to enjoy a medieval show performed by the 'Lord' and his knights. This evening, Christmas celebrations begin. Following dinner, there's the chance to attend Midnight Mass, after which tea and cake is served at your hotel.Day 4
A wonderful day includes the chance to view the Legend of the Sunken Bell, a unique, not-to-be-missed theatrical performance set on - and under - the lake's waters. Enacted by divers, the show tells the tale of the island church's and its famous wishing bell. There'll also be the chance to view the Christmas crib and perhaps choose to take a horse and carriage ride along the lakeshore, or a gondola (pletna) to Bled Island to ring the bell. Christmas lunch will be served at the hotel.Day 5
Rest and relax after the festivities, or join our final excursion, and visit one of the world's most famous caves, the giant chasm at Postojna. At the caves guests will find a remarkable 'Living Nativity' staged in the wonderfully illuminated nether world of stalactites and stalagmites.
