Days Two and ThreeGet to know Marco Polo, her crew and your fellow passengers as you spend two days cruising south.
Day FourEnjoy a unique Christmas celebration as you spend the day at sea in the company of your fellow passengers. You'll be looked after by the Captain, Officers, crew and entertainment team, who will do everything they can to ensure that the day is one to remember.
Day FiveOn Boxing Day morning Marco Polo arrives at the tiny British territory of Gibraltar, set beneath the famous 'Rock'. Explore the very British Main Street, and take the cable-car to the summit of the Rock, not only for the tremendous views to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, but also to meet the famous Barbary Apes.
Day SixRelax and enjoy another leisurely day at sea, heading south and west.
Day SevenThe first of our Canaries' calls is Tenerife. Marco Polo will dock in the principal port of Santa Cruz. Optional excursions will let you discover the land that boasts 'the whole world in one day' - from a swim in warm waters to throwing snowballs on the slopes of Mt Teide, and from the glitz of the capital's shopping malls to stunning gardens, banana plantations and forests of giant pines and eucalyptus.
Day EightMarco Polo's next stop is Arrecife, capital of Lanzarote. Enjoy this sun-baked and colourful holiday isle, with black sand beaches and fringing warm waters. Take the chance to head to 'fire mountain' and take a camel ride to the edge of a volcano.
Day NineThe great trading port of Las Palmas welcomes Marco Polo to Gran Canaria, today. Explore modern Puerto de la Luz, or head to the palm-fringed squares of the city's old town, Vegueta. Alternatively, join an optional shore excursion inland to discover some of the island's superb views.
Day 10Marco Polo arrives into Funchal this evening in time for you to welcome the New Year here, and enjoy a fantastic New Year fireworks display.
Day 11Some 500 miles off the coast of Africa, Madeira is one of the world's most beautiful islands. This sun-blessed, sub-tropical paradise is home to some of the most vibrant and exotic flora on Earth. Relax in the island capital, Funchal, visit the wonderful Botanical Gardens, and perhaps race downhill from Monte to Livramento in a wickerwork 'toboggan'.
Day 12Another day spent at sea as Marco Polo heads back towards mainland Europe.
Day 13The Portuguese capital Lisbon stands on the River Tagus, down which the great adventurers sailed during the Age of Exploration. Today's shore excursion will introduce you to a city where the maze of narrow, hilly streets of the Alfama district have stood, seemingly unchanged, for centuries.
Days 14-15Relive the memories of your cruise as Marco Polo sails back to the UK.
Day 16Marco Polo arrives back in Bristol at the end of a wonderful Christmas cruise. Back to top
