Cruise across the Atlantic
Soak up the glorious Caribbean sunshine on this very special May cruise as Magellan sails from Cancun, through the Caribbean, to London. Leaving the sparkling waters off Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in your wake, you'll cruise to a collection of blissful Caribbean islands before crossing the Atlantic to call at Madeira and Lisbon as Magellan makes her lazy way back to London.
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas. Her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff, and a 50-million-dollar refit ensure her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home.

Day ThreeToday Magellan stops in George Town, Grand Cayman. Choose from a range of optional tours, including the best scuba diving in the kaleidoscopic Caribbean Sea, or simply stretch out on the glimmering white sands at Seven Mile Beach or stroll the shops, cafes, and museums in George Town.
Day FourEnjoy a day relaxing on the delightful beaches of famous Ocho Rios, situated on Jamaica's north coast. Alternatively, join a shore excursion into the Blue Mountains, to dramatic Dunn’s River Falls or to Bob Marley's Mausoleum in the St Ann's Hills.
Day FiveEnjoy another lazy day on board.
Day SixHistoric, colonial Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, was the New World’s first European-style city and the burial place, it is claimed, of Christopher Columbus, who made it his Caribbean base. Several nearby beaches add to the pleasure of a call here.
Day SevenMagellan arrives on the sun-kissed shores of the British Virgin Islands, anchoring in the historic harbour of Road Town. Spend the afternoon exploring this tiny capital, or join an optional shore excursion to beautiful Mount Healthy National Park.
Day EightSt Kitts, together with its tiny sister Nevis, forms one of the world's smallest nations, and is as laid-back and traditionally West Indian as anywhere in the Caribbean. Step ashore in Basseterre to discover the island's stunning beaches, see the restored plantation inns dotting the lush landscape or enjoy the breathtaking views from Brimstone Hill Fortress.
Day NineSpend Good Friday in Barbados’ capital, Bridgetown, gateway to palm-fringed beaches, plush hotels and exclusive shore-side restaurants. Today is sure to rank among the highlights of this wonderful cruise.
Day 10Spend a lazy day dipping in and out of the blue water at tiny Mayreau, with its stunning beaches. Enjoy a beach barbecue, courtesy of the ship's chefs, or join an optional catamaran excursion to the Tobago Cays.
Day 11 - 17Spend the weekend relaxing on board as Magellan heads for home, beginning her eastward Atlantic crossing as you make the most of life on board.
Day 18Magellan reaches the sun-blessed shores of sub-tropical Madeira, to call in its colourful capital, Funchal. On this lush green island the wonderful Botanical Gardens are not to be missed, nor is an exhilarating wickerwork 'toboggan' ride from Monte to Livramento.
Day 19Enjoy a restful day at sea as Magellan cruises still back towards mainland Europe.
Day 20Today Magellan calls in Portuguese capital Lisbon, from where the great explorers sailed to the New World. Enjoy an optional shore excursion through the maze of narrow, hilly streets of the historic Alfamar district, a striking contrast to the modern city's glass and steel.
Day 20 - 23Enjoy three final blissful days at sea as Magellan cruises north on the final leg of this very special cruise.
Day 24Arrive in London Tilbury, and (hopefully) early summer sunshine, at the end of your Transatlantic voyage. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
