Full Itinerary Day One Board Marco Polo in Leith today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail. Day Two After calling at London Tilbury, where more passengers will join us, we'll begin our Canadian adventure. Day Three Enjoy your first day relaxing on board. Meet your fellow passengers and explore the ship's facilities. Day Four Skirting the coast, Marco Polo heads to exquisite Bantry Bay. Go ashore at Glengariff, a green oasis where sub-tropical plants flourish set against the backdrop of the rugged Caha Mountains. Take an excursion into County Kerry and Killarney National Park, which sits beneath the wonderfully named Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range. Days Five to Eight Relax on board as Marco Polo spends another few days at sea. Day Nine Canada’s historic St John’s was founded on the fishing industry, and its harbour is still a hive of activity. Stroll along Water Street, perhaps visiting the fascinating Newfoundland Museum. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to view Cape Spear, North America’s nearest point to Europe, or to Witless Bay, home to North America’s largest puffin colony. Day 10 Spend another restful day at sea. Day 11 Today, Marco Polo will cruise into the world’s second-largest natural harbour, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Highlights here include the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the fortified Citadel. Further afield, Nova Scotia’s rugged coastline and the iconic lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove can be explored on an optional excursion. Day 12 Relax on board as Marco Polo spends another day at sea. Day 13 A morning call at Charlottetown reveals this delightful capital of Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island. The setting for ’Anne of Green Gables’, and a gentle, agricultural land fringed by sandy beaches and picturesque inlets, PEI draws visitors from along the eastern seaboard and beyond to its pretty shores. Day 14 Today’s French Canadian port, Gaspe, brings the chance to explore the surrounding peninsula - a favourite destination for outdoors-loving Quebecois. Enjoy an optional walking excursion into the forested, mountainous Forillon National Park, home to bears and moose, or head to holiday hotspot Perce. Day 15 Relax as Marco Polo spends the day cruising the St Lawrence River. Day 16 Montreal, Canada’s second-largest settlement, is also the world’s second-largest French-speaking metropolis. It’s a cosmopolitan melange of high culture, high fashion and high tech, with a waterfront rivalling Vancouver’s for glass and steel, and contrasting with bohemian Plateau Mont Royal and the cobblestones of Vieux Montreal. Days 17-18 Charming, historic Quebec is North America’s only walled city. Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways of the lower Basse Ville, see the monumental Citadelle and the Chateau Frontenac hotel, or perhaps join fascinating optional shore excursions to nearby Montmorency Falls or the pilgrimage shrine at Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre. Day 19 Marco Polo calls today in Saguenay. Explore the pretty city or join a shore excursion into the Parc du Saguenay, an exquisite natural wonderland crowned by the majestic, 270km Saguenay Fjord. In the icy depths beneath its sheer cliffs, salt and fresh water mix to create the unique ecosystem that supports the area’s whale population. Day 20 Discover Baie-Comeau, gateway to a vast, beautiful wilderness. The city boasts a fascinating Glacier Exploration Station where there’s a chance to immerse yourself in the science of these wonders of nature. There will also be optional shore excursions into the pristine interior. Day 21 A morning call, at Havre Saint Pierre on the river’s north shore, brings an opportunity to visit the otherworldly limestone islands and granite islets of the Mingan Archipelago, home to seabirds, seals, dolphins and whales. Day 22 Cruising back along Newfoundland’s western shore, this morning we’ll call at Corner Brook, beautifully set on the Trans-Canada Highway, at the southern end of idyllic Deer Lake. Day 23 Spend a day in the idyllic Iles-de-la-Madeleine, a remote island group bathed by the warming Gulf Stream. The area’s unique culture combines French, English and ancient ’Arcadian’ traditions. Marco Polo anchors off principal island Cap-aux-Meules, and there’s an opportunity to head ashore to explore. Day 24 Don’t miss today’s chance to join a shore excursion from Sydney, Nova Scotia. Beyond this former mining town the stunning scenery of Cape Breton Island awaits, home to the scenic Cabot Trail and the Cape Bretons Highlands National Park. Days 25-29 Relax on board as Marco Polo spends the next five days crossing the Atlantic. Day 30 Cobh is gateway to the great Irish city of Cork. Discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland, or perhaps head into the beautiful rolling countryside beyond to fashionable Kinsale, or to Blarney Castle for a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone and receive ’’the gift of the gab’’. Day 31 Spend the day at sea and relive the memories of a wonderful Canada cruise as Marco Polo sails back to the UK. Day 32 We'll reach London Tilbury today, where some passengers will disembark the ship. Day 33 Marco Polo arrives back in Leith, where you'll disembark at the end of your cruise. Back to top
