As you sail from Liverpool to Bristol on this delightful late-summer cruise you'll also have the chance to cross the Channel completely, to discover pretty Honfleur at the mouth of the River Seine.

Ship Information

At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas. Her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff, and a major refit in 2010 ensure her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home.

Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Liverpool today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Magellan's first stop is Dublin. This great city of culture, once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, is one of Europe's most engaging capitals. Grafton and O'Connell Streets are popular with visitors, as are the city's famous bars and pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

Day Three

This morning finds us in the Isles of Scilly. Magellan anchors here in sheltered waters, giving you the opportunity to go ashore to explore Hugh Town on St Mary's, the flower-strewn byways beyond, and stunning Tresco, where the famous Abbey Gardens house Britain's finest subtropical plant collection.

Day Four

Magellan will stop in Bristol, this morning, to let some of your travel companions disembark, and you’ll have time to step ashore and explore this lively university city.

Day Five

Spend today relaxing and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Six

Crossing the Channel to France, our first port of call is Honfleur at the mouth of the Seine. Wander the streets behind the pretty harbour, or perhaps join an optional excursion into the surrounding countryside.

Day Seven

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day Eight

This morning we'll tie up in the great natural harbour at Invergordon on Scotland's rugged East Coast. Step ashore to explore, or join an optional shore excursion, perhaps to Inverness in search of Nessie. Golfers may head to the fine course at nearby Dornoch, while whisky connoisseurs can make a pilgrimage to the celebrated Glen Ord Distillery.

Day Nine

Today Magellan arrives in Kirkwall, Orkney's historic capital. Wander the streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join an excursion to fabled Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.

Day 10

Our next port is the Shetland capital, Lerwick. Spend time exploring this rugged but enchanting town, or join an excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.

Day 11

Spend another day at sea, hopefully enjoying sunny skies, as Columbus cruises south and down the coast of Western Scotland.

Day 12

The small town of Tobermory on the beautiful island of Mull, with its picturesque waterfront of brightly painted buildings, is a delightful place to explore, as is nearby Duart Castle, the famous seat of Clan Maclean.

Day 13

Early this morning, Magellan arrives in historic Belfast. Explore the city centre, visit the new Titanic Quarter developments that pay homage to the ill-fated vessel, or join an optional excursion to the vast ’stone staircase’ of the Giant’s Causeway on the Antrim Coast beyond.

Day 14

Ringaskiddy, at the mouth of the river Lee, lies just around the coast from the great trading city of Cork, the historic capital of southwest Ireland. Step ashore to explore, and perhaps head to foodie heaven Kinsale or famous Blarney Castle - where kissing the Blarney Stone is said to grant you "the gift of the gab".

Day 15

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise. (An optional coach transfer back to Liverpool will be available to book before departure.) Back to top
