Day OneHead to Dundee and join Magellan before this evening's departure.
Day TwoMagellan arrives in Kirkwall, the historic capital of Orkney, today. Wander the meandering streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join excursions to fabled Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.
Day ThreeSpend the day at sea, getting to know Magellan, her friendly crew and your fellow passengers.
Day FourMagellan reaches the island of Mull, today, which features breathtaking scenery, a spectacular coastline and is a haven for wildlife. In the small town of Tobermory you'll find picturesque, multi-coloured houses encircling the waterfront and, nearby, famous Duart Castle, the seat of Clan Maclean.
Day FiveToday finds Magellan in Dublin, the incomparable Irish capital. This great city of culture - once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift - is also one of Europe's most engaging. Head to Grafton or O'Connell Street for some shopping, and take the opportunity to enjoy the city's famous bars, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
Day SixThe port of Ringaskiddy is the gateway to the great Irish trading city of Cork. Discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland on a shore excursion, or perhaps head into the beautiful rolling countryside beyond - to the fashionable resort of Kinsale, or to famous Blarney Castle, where kissing the Blarney Stone is said to grant you the 'gift of the gab'.
Day SevenThe Scillies are one of Britain's most verdant corners, often bursting into colour long before the rest of the country. Go ashore to explore tiny Hugh Town on St Mary's and the flower-decorated byways beyond, or take an excursion to stunning Tresco, where the world-famous Abbey Gardens house Britain's finest sub-tropical plant collection.
Day EightAs Magellan reaches Guernsey, she calls at Charming St Peter port. Fortified Castle Cornet is a must-see, as are the views from Candie Gardens. Perhaps visit stunning Hauteville House, once the home of Victor Hugo, whose exquisite interior design is preserved in the house.
Day NineEnjoy a leisurely day at sea.
Day 10On the last leg of your journey you'll arrive in Newcastle, where you'll have some time to explore the city.
Day 11Magellan arrives back in Dundee at the end of a wonderful cruise. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
