Itinerary

Day 1

Board Magellan in Bristol today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day 2

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day 3

Magellan reaches her first port of call today: the Dutch maritime city of Rotterdam. Step ashore to see the stunning architecture of the Erasmus Bridge and the remarkable Markthal food market. Browse the World-class museums, explore the lovingly preserved Old Harbour and stroll past nearby Delfshaven's step-gabled houses and ancient wharves.

Day 4

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day 5

Stylish Copenhagen, home to the famous Tivoli Gardens and forever associated with Hans Christian Andersen, is a marvellous city. Join the optional shore excursion to discover the world famous Little Mermaid, the Royal Palace and the grand stores that line the famous shopping street, Stroget.

Day 6

This morning Magellan arrives in Warnemunde. Discover the port's charming gabled houses and historic Neuer Markt, or join the optional excursion to Berlin to explore the city's highlights - from the Brandenburg Gate and the 1926 Olympic Stadium to Hitler's Bunker and Checkpoint Charlie.

Day 7

Spend another day at sea, as Magellan cruises across the Baltic.

Day 8

Today we'll arrive in beautiful Tallinn. Step back in time as you explore the enchanting Estonian capital and its perfectly preserved old town, winding cobblestone streets full of storybook houses, steepled churches and ancient buildings, all watched over by Toompea Castle.

Days 9-10

Magellan will spend two days at the docks of St Petersburg, one of the world's most startling and glorious cities, with its world-renowned Hermitage Museum, its wide canal-side boulevards and its modern cosmopolitan atmosphere.

We'll have lots of time in the city, so don't miss our optional excursion to the Tsars' Summer Palace at Petrodvorets, the chance to explore the city's Haymarket, or the opportunity to see the opulence of the Mariinsky Theatre, home to the world-renowned Kirov Ballet.

Day 11

Step ashore to explore Helsinki, Finland's elegant capital. Explore the harbour-side fish market, take a stroll in nearby Esplanade Park, and don't miss the monumental neo-Classical buildings of stunning Senate Square, which have played the part of Moscow in many Cold War movies.

Day 12

Magellan's next call is at the Swedish island of Gotland. Discover its UNESCO-listed capital, Visby, a medieval treasure trove of wooden cottages, cobbled streets and Gothic churches surrounded by the best-preserved medieval city wall anywhere in Scandinavia, or head out of the town to explore the island's archaeological sites, iconic rock formations, tranquil countryside and fine beaches.

Days 13-15

Make the most of your final three days on board as Magellan cruises home.

Day 16

Magellan arrives in Cork's long, narrow harbour at Cobh, this morning. Shore excursions here offer you the chance to discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland, to head into the beautiful rolling countryside to fashionable Kinsale or to visit famous Blarney Castle, just north of the city, for a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone.

Day 17

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise. Back to top

Accommodation

Magellan

At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.

Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.

Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.
