Day TwoMagellan's first stop is the port city of Dundee. Discover its nautical history at Captain's Scott's RRS Discovery, which recounts the days when maritime adventures were far less luxurious.
Day ThreeToday is spent at sea, enjoying all of Magellan's many amenities and getting to know your fellow passengers.
Day FourTrendy Copenhagen is our next port of call. Spend some time strolling through the magical surroundings of the Tivoli, the Danish capital's famous pleasure gardens in the heart of the city. Don't miss the famous Little Mermaid, the Royal Palace or the dockside bars of colourful Nyhavn.
Day FiveThis morning Magellan arrives in Warnemunde, the gateway to the city of Rostock. From here, there's a chance to join an optional excursion to fascinating Berlin. Take in the city's rich history - see the iconic Brandenburg Gate, impressive Museum Island, the great 1926 Olympic Stadium and historic Checkpoint Charlie.
Day SixSpend another relaxing day at sea, enjoying life on board Magellan.
Day SevenMagellan will call at Nynashamn, this morning, and you'll have the chance to head to Stockholm. Best explored on foot, the Swedish capital spans 14 islets and boasts a wonderful mix of historic sights and fine city parks. Its ancient heart is Gamla Stan, a beguiling labyrinth of cobbled streets, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Day EightStep ashore this morning to explore the wonderful port city of Helsinki, where the City Hall overlooks the fresh fish stalls and historic, covered Market Hall in Market Square. Stroll through Esplanade Park, and take in the panoramic views of the city and the sea beyond from the cathedral tower before we set sail once more.
Days 9-10Perhaps the highlight of the cruise, today you dock in magnificent, historic St Petersburg. Discover the incomparable Hermitage Museum, the Haymarket area of the city, where every corner seems ready to host a scene from a Dostoyevsky novel, and the Mariinsky Theatre, home to the world renowned Kirov Ballet. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the fabled Summer Palace at Petrodvorets.
Day 11Almost impossibly beautiful, the Estonian capital Tallinn, with its enchanting and virtually pristine Old Town, is one of Europe's most scenic cities. Discover this timeless gem, with its winding cobbled streets of storybook houses, spectacular steepled churches, ancient buildings and Toompea Castle.
Day 12Relax as Magellan spends another day at sea, heading west.
Day 13Settled for over 1000 years, Denmark's lively second city, Aalborg - the largest on the Jutland peninsula - is a delightful university seat boasting a cobbled old town of colourful shops, bars and cafes, all watched over by the imposing Gothic Domkirke cathedral, and is also home to a fascinating Viking Museum.
Day 14Look back of the memories of the last few days as Magellan cruises home.
Day 15Magellan arrives back in Newcastle at the end of a wonderful Baltic cruise. Back to top
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows. Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
Magellan's 15 categories of cabin and suite are graded according to size and position. Each cabin is air-conditioned, and has ample storage space, a safe, a TV, a hairdryer and private facilities with a shower. All ocean-view cabins have picture windows apart from eight Cat 6 cabins and 10 Cat 7 cabins, towards the front of the ship, which have portholes. Suites offer the added comforts of baths, seating areas and private balconies.Back to top
