Atlantic Island Calls
This fascinating late-summer cruise heads south, where warmer days and blue skies are all but guaranteed. Calls to a trio of Portuguese outposts in the mid-Atlantic await – two of the lovely islands of the Azores and the Garden Island, Madeira. Visits to the Spanish Armada’s home port, La Coruña, vibrant Portuguese capital, Lisbon, and Leixões, for tours to wine-producing Porto, complete this excellent cruise. Join Magellan as she departs from Bristol Portbury and cruises to La Coruña, from where you can visit Santiago de Compostela, final destination of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrim trail, on an optional excursion. Leaving mainland Europe, you’ll cruise south to even warmer climes, and to the Azores. Here, two wonderful calls await, including Horta, on delightful Faial, known as the ‘blue island’, and elegant, cosmopolitan Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, the largest island of the archipelago. Continue south to the island idyll of Madeira, where you’ll call at floral paradise, Funchal, before Magellan turns north for home. Calls at Lisbon, Leixões, and colourful Irish maritime gateway Cobh rounds off this wonderful voyage.
