Leaving your local area this morning, we'll head to our hotel. Check-in, relax and unwind before dinner is served.
Today we take a trip into Liverpool and back in time to the rock 'n' roll days of the early 1960s. Our dedicated 'Beatles' guide will bring to life the world of 'Strawberry Fields' and 'Penny Lane' on an included, not-to-be-missed 'Beatles' coach tour.
See where John and Paul first met, where the quartet grew up, the poignant 'Eleanor Rigby' sculpture and other places connected with four of the 20th Century's most iconic figures. We include a short stop at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral - Britain's largest, and the fifth largest cathedral in Europe (and where Paul McCartney failed to pass his audition to get into the Cathedral choir!) - as well as a visit to the Cavern Club itself, one of Britain's most legendary music venues and the cradle of British pop music.
Afterwards, explore Liverpool under your own steam. With award-winning attractions and the largest collection of museums and galleries in the UK outside London - many of them free to enter - Liverpool has something for everyone.
Perhaps find out more about John, Paul, George and Ringo at The Beatles Story - a 'magical history' tour including fascinating recreations of Abbey Road, the Casbah Coffee Club, and even a Yellow Submarine, allowing you to experience the places that helped make The Beatles the biggest band in the world. Or you may like to visit the British Music Experience that takes you on a journey through the history of popular music and its influence on British culture where you can see, hear and experience music from 1945 right through to the present day.
Perhaps visit the Merseyside Maritime Museum with its fascinating exhibition, Titanic and Liverpool: the untold story; the Walker Art Gallery and TATE Liverpool with their celebrated art collections or the World Museum, temporary home to China's extraordinary Terracotta Warriors.
We return to our hotel in time for dinner this evening.
After breakfast we'll return to Liverpool and board the "Ferry 'Cross the Mersey" for a whole new perspective on the city. The on-board commentary will bring all of the city's landmarks to life on this fascinating 50-minute cruise, and you'll then have a few hours of free time to continue to explore before we begin our journey home, arriving back in your local area by mid-to-late evening.Back to top
