Fly to Riga and upon arrival transfer into the heart of the city and your hotel. After checking in, enjoy your first evening in the Baltic States' largest city. A host of cafes, bars and restaurants caters to all tastes and pockets, and the lights of the shops and stores bring colour and warmth to the crisp, wintry air.
A guided tour will lift the veil on Riga's fascinating past and will showcase the sights of one of Europe's most rapidly growing cities. Set on the bank of the Daugava River, the city boasts several ultra-modern buildings around its walled central core. The lovingly reconstructed Dutch-influenced 'House of the Blackheads', several large churches, Riga Castle with its museums, the towering Freedom Monument and two magnificent cathedrals add to the attraction, which is crowned by the Art Nouveau glories of UNESCO-listed 'Quiet Centre' district and restored Town Hall Square, site of another wonderful Christmas market, with its traditional wares and warming foodstuffs.
This evening why not join our optional Latvian Folklore evening in a local restaurant, a short walk away from the hotel, with live music and dancing.
Discover more of the city today, or join the optional excursion, journeying into the beautiful landscape of the Gauja National Park, a forested, alpine refuge for elk, European bison and brown bears, among other species, and where the Turaida Museum Reserve chronicles Latvian history and culture.
End your visit to this wonderful city by joining the optional traditional Latvian evening in a local tavern, where in addition to local fare, you will enjoy live folk music.

Combining hotel transfers
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.
Please note that for two people travelling together on one booking, or a single traveler, one piece of hold luggage is included. Additional hold luggage may be purchased at the time of booking at a cost of GBP30 per bag.
