Leaving the local area this morning you'll head to France via cross-Channel ferry arriving at your hotel by early evening.
Visit the small village of Giverny, home and inspiration to perhaps the most famous of the French Impressionists, Claude Monet. Monet's house, with its attractive pink facade, has been restored to its original beauty and now contains reproductions of his work. In the gardens, re-planted to his design, you will find his studio and the lily pond, subject of many of his paintings.
This afternoon we travel up the Seine Valley to Rouen, the lovingly restored capital of Upper Normandy. Stroll along narrow bustling streets, past half-timbered houses or climb the Belfry of the Gros Horloge and enjoy wonderful views of the city. Rouen was also the site of the trial and execution of Joan of Arc - see her monument in the Place du Vieux Marche, next to the church of Ste-Jeanne D'Arc with its beautiful stained-glass windows.
There'll be time to explore before returning to your hotel this evening.
Today enjoy an included panoramic sightseeing tour of Paris, taking in such sights as the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower. Afterwards, you may wish to join our optional excursion to the Montparnasse Tower. Ride one of the fastest lifts in the world up, and enjoy incredible city views.
After a day at leisure, this evening bid 'au revoir' on an optional excursion to the cafe-lined streets of the Latin Quarter, and board a famous Bateau Mouche for a romantic cruise along the Seine.
You'll begin your journey home after breakfast, arriving back in your local area by mid-to-late evening.Back to top
