We leave the local area this morning and travel to London, arriving at your centrally located hotel by late afternoon. This evening is at leisure, with dinner payable locally.
This morning we include a panoramic sightseeing tour of the world-famous attractions and landmarks of the capital before heading to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. Here you'll enjoy a fascinating 90-minute audio tour of the Palace of Westminster, home to the House of Commons and the House of Lords, during which you'll get a unique and riveting insight into the history and workings of one of the world's most iconic buildings. Highlights include the Sovereign's Entrance, The Queen's Robing Room, the Royal Gallery and the Chamber of the House of Lords, as well as the smaller-than-expected (and quieter than usual!) historic House of Commons.
After the fascinating tour, relax and enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea created by Parliament's award-winning chefs and served in a purpose built, heated marquee overlooking the River Thames. There'll then be time to enjoy London at leisure before we transfer you back to your hotel this evening.
Today we visit the Cabinet War Rooms - the cramped and spartan refuge where Winston Churchill and his War Cabinet worked, slept and survived the ferocious air attacks on London during the Blitz, and from where he directed operations during the "finest hour". There's a real sense of stepping back in time, as you explore these unique, history-filled rooms, which were once so secret.
Combining cutting-edge technology with key documents, objects, film and sound recordings, the fascinating museum chronicles Churchill's 90-year life, and with the use of several newly discovered and intriguing facts and anecdotes, unveils the full legend of the man revered as the 'Greatest Ever Briton'.
We continue our journey home during mid-afternoon, arriving back in your local area by mid-to-late evening, depending on the traffic and distance to be travelled.
