Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area this morning we'll cross the Channel to France and continue our onward journey to Brussels, arriving by late afternoon.

Day Two

After an early breakfast this morning, we head to the medieval Grand Place. Its cobblestone courtyard, surrounded by ancient guild halls, provides the most beautiful location for the stunning Flower Carpet - a tapestry of 600,000 brilliant-coloured begonias covering the square, with not a layer of soil in sight! We include VIP entrance to the 15th-century Hotel de Ville which opens its balcony especially to allow a truly amazing view.

Afterwards there'll be time to explore Brussels further - the Royal Museum of Fine Arts and buildings of the European Parliament are well worth a visit. You may wish to join our optional guided walking tour that uncovers the beautiful sights of the old town, such as picturesque Rue des Bouchers; Saint Hubert Galleries; and the cheeky Mannekin Pis.

This afternoon we visit Ghent, often described as one of Europe's best kept secrets - a beautifully preserved medieval city with stunning architecture, a 12th-century castle and quaint cobbled streets. Stroll along the beautiful Graslei to see its historic guild houses and enjoy the cityscape from St Michael's Bridge. You may also wish to join our optional canal cruise along Ghent's beautiful waterways. There'll be time to enjoy an early evening meal before we return to your hotel during mid-evening.

Day Three

Today we'll begin our journey home. En route we'll make a short stop in Bruges, one of the most visited medieval cities in the world. Join our optional canal cruise, a popular and relaxing way of seeing the old city and its maze of waterways and romantic bridges, or explore at leisure, before we continue to Calais for our return Channel crossing. We should arrive back in your local area by mid-to-late evening.

This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Please also note that the medieval architecture of the Brussels Hotel de Ville means that it is not accessible in a wheelchair.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Channel crossings

Where possible, we will cross the Channel by ferry at the beginning and end of your holiday. However, we reserve the right to substitute crossings by Eurotunnel when necessary.
