'White Rose Country' (Christmas Eve)
On the morning of Christmas Eve, we'll leave the hotel and make for the quintessential market town of Knaresborough and the rural jewel of Pateley Bridge…’White Rose County’ at its finest. The exact origins of Knaresborough’s ancient walkways, cobbled alleys and secret passageways are shrouded in mystery. But one thing is for sure, Knaresborough has carved out a real character for itself with a Tudor prophetess, once royal castle, magnificent viaduct and breathtaking countryside views. We will also visit Ripon. This unspoilt cathedral city is a North Yorkshire gem, balancing a rich cultural heritage with exciting contemporary living. With its imposing cathedral, fascinating museums and a bustling market square, there is plenty to entertain the visitor here.
Harrogate (Boxing Day)
A leisurely morning before we set off for Harrogate (about 10 miles way). With its handsome historic buildings and verdant gardens, Harrogate is one of Yorkshire's most elegant destinations. Magnificent Victorian buildings, colourful banks of flowers, broad tree-lined boulevards and wide open spaces are reminders of the Regal past. The 19th century Royal Pump Room Museum, housing the original sulphur well, and the Royal Baths Assembly Rooms, built in 1897, where the Turkish Baths are still in daily use. Harrogate is widely known for its fine tea rooms, restaurants and unique shops all based in a lovely setting. Explore at leisure and we'll pick you up afterwards to head back to Wetherby for our final night away.
